An automatic transmission sucks. If it were a 5 speed, he would of had more of a chance against that Lincoln. The 3.8 isn't that bad behind a 5 speed. Not fast but they can be pretty quick and respond well to a turbo. I've driven every mustang from the V6 model to the Terminator cobra... I can tell you there's not much of a difference between an auto GT and a 5 speed V6 (99-04 of course).
well besides the slight difference in engine size the 3.8 was nothing more than an average compression family sedan and minivan engine. The 3.9 is a slightly higher compression premium car engine that makes decent power for its size. So of course the Lincoln had this race.

The Lincoln has the Jaguar 3.9 Liter V8, and in the S-Type, the engine also came as a 4.0 liter engine and as 4.2 liter engine. The small V8 was about 280 HP at the crank, about the same as the 4.6 Liter engine in mustang. The Mustang was going to initially use the same rear drive chassis the DE98W chassis as the Lincoln, but the used the S197 cheaper chassis instead, because the 4.6 Mustang motor couldn't be mounted from underneath in Assembly line, only from the top, so the nix the idea
i dont know how its so hard to understand that a ford v8 can beat a ford v6.... and this is an automatic v6 and i bet its not a '11 so it isnt making a lot of Hp.

Guys, if its a stock 4th generation mustang with a V-6, it can only produce around 190 hp or less depending on the year. The lincoln ls has a small V-8 and produces around 280 hp. The only thing is that mustang is lighter than the lincoln. The lincoln should easily win however.

@armanislapped08 Sorry to burst your bubble, but that lincoln has anywhere from 250-280 HP out of its 3.9 V8. More than the Mustang 3.8 V6 with the mods. The Mustang 3.8 V6's run fine, though, don't get me wrong, but the 3.9 V8 jag engine has lots of power starting from 2000RPM all the way to 6500RPM compared to how that V6 feels.

got to a drag strip and get disappointed. i know what my car runs, i'm at the track every friday puttin down V8 mustangs bud. haven't had the opp to put down a ls, but i know what they run...
if you have some $ you should get 410 gears(and a ford racing LSD) and a custom tune. was like night and day for me....amazing how much difference spending 1000 on those made.
all you need is an eaton m90 blower from a a supercoupe t-bird, and tell the v8 boys to suck it........a manual tranny swap might help too. if you have a pullapart you can pick up a supercharger (if they have one in stock) for less tha 100 bucks, 45 in knoxville tennessee.
i'm about to get 4.10 gears. posi. and a custom tune. I will be faster than a v8 after those mods. i have a video on here of me going 0-105 now. i'll take a video after the mods. you'll be suprised cuz it'll be faster than your car

@stuntrider15 i agree and disagree. the ranger and f150 are trucks. yes they have less hp but they still have torque, which is their purpose. my 08 4.2L f150 isnt fast but has only lost to 2 V8 trucks out of about 30 raced. and one of those 2 i have also beat. raced about 10 times, won all from a roll which was 4 races. off the line he got me. and it was a 04 4.8L silverado. the other one i lost to was a 06 5.3L silverado. same guy owned both

@stuntrider15 i raced a 5.4L lariat crew f150 the other day and beat him. thats what i am saying. no race against a hemi tho. and my truck ran the 1/4 in 16.9378@81.66mph with just a cold air intake. and those chevys would be in the mid 16's to low 17s. 04 reg cab shortbed 2wd 4.8L 3.42 rear end auto with 110k bone stock, 06 reg cab shortbed 5.3L 3.42 locking rearend auto 4x4 Z71 60k also bone stock. mine is a 08 reg cab shortbed 2wd 4.2L V6 3.55LS rearend 5spd manual 38k with K&N intake

@braddfordy, you are right. I thought the 4.6L in the 2000-2004 was the same 220hp engine in the Town Car, and the Continental before they increased it to 275. You're 100% right on that though.

@armanislapped08 Sorry to burst your bubble, but that lincoln has anywhere from 250-280 HP out of its 3.9 V8. More than the Mustang 3.8 V6 with the mods. The Mustang 3.8 V6's run fine, though, don't get me wrong, but the 3.9 V8 jag engine has lots of power starting from 2000RPM all the way to 6500RPM compared to how that V6 feels.

get a nice exhaust system for it (a catback). new headers. a cam maybe? but thats gonna be more expensive. really i don't know alot about the LS. I'm a mustang guy its my mustang in this video. that's what i'd do to a mustang for more power. so those things should work for your car too (and all cars really)

is the stang an auto it sounds like it is? i raced a ls w my 02 3.8 5 speed and it didnt pull on me much. mine has bbk cold air and dual pipes thats it. if i wldv lunched instead of letting him take the hit i mightv stayed ahead of him. 5speeds have 5% more power to the ground!!!

itz a 99 to a 02' linc 3.9 v8, monster dnt get one tho coils always misfire and thats very annoying ur car will buck and it will feel like somebody is hitting u from the back i kno i have a 04 powerful but very expensive and doesn't preform that great dont get me wrong it good but i let my friend drive my lincoln and i drove my EXPLORER v8 5.0 (Gt40)and i dusted it...

all you need is an eaton m90 blower from a a supercoupe t-bird, and tell the v8 boys to suck it........a manual tranny swap might help too. if you have a pullapart you can pick up a supercharger (if they have one in stock) for less tha 100 bucks, 45 in knoxville tennessee.
