The fact is that most Congressmen (over 50% I think) are millionaires who make quite a lot of money from investments. So, yes, they could easily afford to freeze their $120K salaries, just for show. On the other hand, they'll fight to the death before raising th 15% tax rate they pay on capital gains from their investments, will never give up their perks and unlimited "expense accounts," and will probably NIX the Senate bill to make Congressional insider trading illegal. Jerks
The pope is the BEAST OF Revelation 13, because he killed the saints in the inqustion and he dared to call himself the equal of JESUS CHRIST which is blasphemy and which is what daniel in chp 8:11 said the anti christ would say. Plus Rev 17 says the beast sits with the harlot church in Rome rev 17:9. Also daniel said the anti christ would try to change the sabbath day which the pope did when he changed it from sat to sun, also the pope and jesuits control the elite illuminati satan families
Pretty much a reasonable conversation except for the obvious jabs at the democrats and pelosi....
Not to mention the bill itself seems to benothing more than a political stunt. They voted to freeze their pay back in 2010 and I don't see anyone fighting against it this time around. So really introducing the bill is more of a way to say "Hey look at me making sure those democrats do the right thing!"
I am a democrat and will always be a democrat. I wouldn't have voted for mr Duffy but I applaud his sensibility and reason. Now if only the repub congress would take the savings from a federal pay freeze and invest it in Medicare, education and our infrastructure we would be making progress.
His point is well taken and no reasonable person should disagree. You are the asshole if all you can do is insult him simply because he has an (R) in front of his name.
@finerbiner It is not reasonable. Just because private sector workers' wages have been reduced doesn't mean that public workers wages should be cut. I thought Republicans were about lifting people up, not a race to the bottom.
@finerbiner His point is only well taken by those who don't do any research on the issue. Those that do will find he omits a lot of information that would make his position less convincing. As an example, he makes a blanket claim that federal workers make more than their private sector counterparts. Many do, but a substantial number do not. As an attorney and Congressman he should be bound by the oath taken by witnesses in Court. "The truth, the WHOLE truth..."
@kaysandesses Federal, State and Municipal workers have pension and health insurance benefits that have proven to be too expensive as structured to be maintained.
Health delivery system need to change to help fix that. In the interim, we can not continue to pile up unfunded liabilities at the rate that these programs costs are growing.
so Goverment employees are getting paid more than private sector counterparts. i freaking hope so. does he know how much money people are making in the private sector. The "free market" slave trade. so he wants to make government employees lives as miserable as someone working a private sector job. What an asshole. i wonder if he knows what its like to live on minumum wage? i doubt it. we know for a fact he is enjoying that congressional healthcare WE ALL PAY FOR.
Except he worked for his father's law firm from the time he resigned as DA to the time he was elected. He's now claiming he got no pay from his father's law firm during that 7 months?
This is a political hack at his best. What a bunch of bullshit. He is putting these bullshit bills so he makes a name for himself. He is disingenuous and grandstanding.

@finerbiner That has nothing to do with the fact that Duffy was blatantly dishonest with his statement.
