I would much rather put in my VHS copy of Stop Making Sense and watch and listen to one of my favorite bands(TALKING HEADS) than listen to these guys try to come with what is not even, I think, a good or even passable cover of this song. Phish Fans don't get your keyboards in an uproar over my comment here I just happen to think that the Heads do a better job on this one, and I DO like Phish I just like the real version of this song.

The scale of an impact isn't even measurable.......who's silly now? BTW - the talking heads never had 90K people travel across the country for one show; nor did their concerts or fan base ever compare to Phish. It's basically apples and oranges - Phish is iconic the talking heads were a fad.

maybe ill agree on apples. but maybe its more obvious to me that pop big name bands cover TH songs in a lot of genres. Phish, wide spread panic, guster, puff daddy (weymouth n franz), pearl jam, just to name a few. radiohead is named after a TH song. phish phans will love phish just as much as TH fans respectively but on impacting new music TH takes the cake. phishs impact is great too tho - refreshingly organic live show and trey anastasio's guitar playing. lots of love

Sorry, son - and with due respect to Phish which is a terrific band with a wonderful sound - but they're no Talking Heads. TH was around for 15 years and to this day no one (and I mean no one) has come close to the astounding rock movie that was Stop Making Sense.

It's a big enough universe for many amazing bands. You can enjoy them all without having to put anyone down.
