i have a wilesco D4 stationary from 1975 and for some reason the flywheel won't turn the boiler will raise steam and i occasionally pull it out and raise steam in the boiler and i oil it pretty much every day . please help
I have a steam engine almost exactly the same as this one. But I need the cap for the Boiler.. It melted off before I had it. And when I got it it never did have it. Do you know where I can get somthing like that?
I had one of those back in 1972. Melted the front off in 1998. Fixed it, then gave it away in 2004. Just got my first live steam locomotive. Good post!
hey i have an engine just like that, my dad works at a scrap yard and someone brought it in. it is the same thing and it says made in germany on the bottom.
xcuse me, but could u direct me to a website that reproduces those... i mean the parts for them see i found one im my house that i moved into.. but from wat i see its missing a few peices i would like to restore it. it would be a great help if u know of a place.
i can help you, the govennor on the wilesco engines are only for the looks of it the engines of wilesco are strong enough that they dont need them only the company likes the look of it, hope this will help you cheers
Kool. My mother bought me one in July, 1973. A little smaller and less sophisticated than the one on the video. I still have it. I was only 12 at the time. Had lots of fun with it.
i think you should put up a vid of your fathers steam enigne which (coincidentaly ran the year i was born 1994) but has tons of cool stuff, and if not could you just tell what is on there all i could tell was a governer and other suff i have no idea what they are
That sounds terrific, thumping away like that. One day I'll have to acquire one of those larger Wilesco engines. I've got my eye on the D21. The other eye is on my wallet, though, and the time is not yet right ;D
She certainly is a good runner, nice large flywheel!I myself have the D455 vertical engine, that runs well, unfortunately the original boiler burst!!It was less than a week old and the join between the boiler top plate and the boiler barrel actually split along the soldered joint!!Unbelievable, these engine only run at about 15psi!!The supplied sent me a new boiler after they tried to fix the old one and made a right mess of it,Stew

ok thank you. thats what i do but i wasnt sure if that was the proper way of emptying it.
brandonkr1 4 years ago
how do you empty the boiler when you are done running it? do you just tip it upside down and shake it out?
brandonkr1 4 years ago
Hi brandonkr1
Yes you just unscrew the safety valve and tip it upside down to empty the water out

Very Nice!!! I'm in the market, trying to make a model of an old steam-powered sawmill. It might be quite a challenge!!!
steved0689 4 years ago
Smooth running, no loose bearing surfaces. I really like that engine's sounds, Mike.
It's a beauty!

seanhewitt1 4 years ago
It wouldnt power a TV lol

... yo, mate! A fine machine, super well kept! The way she starts up when you open the valve - no helping push to the fly wheel needed! Great!
