Hi Guys, if you want a recap on the topics of biology like this, then you can listen to my biology song on my channel if you wish. thank you for your support. lyrics explains!
This is a nice experiment; it's obvious how much water has left the egg submerged in corn syrup and how much water has entered the egg submerged in distilled water. This is a hard topic to teach and/or understrand, and the visual helps a lot..
you know if someone injected water into your body. your cells will be in a HYPOTONIC situation. your cells will swell up and BRUST! thus causing death. same goes to the hypertonic situation. your cells will die off. thus causing death too.
thankyou for this i'm doing gcse biology and it helped me understand osmosis, and whenever i forget i watch it again. thankyou for making it make sense better than textbooks :)
We just got done learning about osmosis, diffusion, hypotonic solutions, hypertonic solutions, isotonic solutions, and equilbrium. Phew ... that was long ... Anyway, our last chapter was all about Histology. I did finally understand all the processes, and the solute of a solution, but this is the first example I've seen. Thank you. It was very interesting ...
lol i under stand that lesson now LOLOLOL ty guys you are great cuz our noob teacher just sucks,,when i asked him what osmosis means he said"why so smart?"he sucks any way...
It's great to have this information available in internet. After seen this practical example I can say I understand how osmosis happens in cells. Excellent, I hope they have more examples like for hydrostatic pressure, filtration, and active transport system.
My science teacher did this once but it was really funny because for several days she kept putting the same egg ramdomlu in different stuff. One day she took it out dropped it and then instead of bursting it bounced right back into her hand! we all had a turn at using it as a bouncy ball lol.And then a girl with sharp fingernails burst it.
So helpful! Thank you :)

i just to ask if the egg soak into the corn syrup is same with the egg soak in the water i mean egg without shell?thank you. . .
agetrojay 11 months ago
@agetrojay consider the isotonic egg to be without a shell like the others, but of the same size
hope that helps :s

Holy shite, I finally get it. Osmosis is simply diffusion of water.
