While I think a choice is a good thing, I don't like how he talked about not sending children to failing schools.

Could it be that he wants people to be able to pull kids out of failing schools, because he has no intention of fixing the public schools that ARE failing?

Not everybody can just switch out to a private school, or a charter school, or home schooling. Having the legal ability to decide between different methods of education, doesn't mean that one has the realistic ability to do so.

that's why there is a fight to have choice schools that too are funded by gov't money. my son attended a Core Knowledge choice elementary school and he is now an honors student, plus that current school has a waiting of over 600 kids and some want to open another school like it, but the school board said no!

those kids have tested higher and there have been less problems than any of the other 6 elem schools in the district...dsn't make sense.......NEA doesn't want it--that's why!

Choice and compettition? This debate took place in California. Every single person, myself included, who entered college in order to become a teacher either switched professions or left the state. Why? Because the pay is pittifully low. That's the choices that are made because Republicans don't believe in funding education. There are no competative salaries in California's education, and I use that term loosely, system.

He is absolutely right about considering small business owners "rich". I own two small businesses and recently had to cut hours due to expense increases and tax burdens. The general public dosent understand that the more money the government lets you keep, the more good you can do with it.
