  • People need to understand that medicine is not perfect and neither are people. Mistakes WILL happen. My take is this: if you want the medical care, accept that there are risks and sign away your right to sue. Otherwise, try to deal with your illness on your own and see how well that goes.

  • The problem with that logic is administrators and other bean-counters will scale back safety measures and service if they know there will be no repercussions for their negligence. That means overworked and underpaid doctors and nurses, and shorter hospital stays -- Each of these factors increases the patient's risk. We as a society can afford to expect better.

  • I sympathize with this man, but this video is nothing but propaganda by lawyers to increase their cut in a California lawsuit. Good doctors are quitting because of lawsuits, forcing patients to have to travel long distances to see specialists or to even have a baby.  Many more people DIE due to lack of care than from poor care. The cost of malpractice is HUGE for physicians and patients. This video is not about this unfortunate guy, its about money for the lawyers (1/3 cut of the $)
