i don't believe it is a compound circle. if i understand right the compound circle is done with one hand.

Yes that is a compound circle. It's just the special case where the hand and the poi head have the same period (time of full rotation)

That part you asked if one poi is making a larger circle, while the other poi is making a smaller circle... wouldn't that be called a poly rhythm? Well, anywho... nice lesson =)
