Something really interesting about these games is the ATC (automated challenge tuning). The games (or maybe only Year of the Dragon) adapt to how well you play. Sadly, there's not a lot of info on how it works exactly...BUT there is a cheat code to set the game to the hardest or easiest difficulty. Some obvious things are the game giving you more butterflies, or removing obstacles in that one mission with the firefly bomber guys if you lose a lot (happened to me). XP
Oh and I'm pretty sure that Activision could remake the first three Spyro games on the PS3. But then again I've only seen recent PS2 remakes for the PS3 with other gaming franchises, and these Spyro games were on the PS1. E.g. Tomb Raider, Jak and Daxter.
Insomniac Games didn't own the licensing to Spyro, Universal did, and they had a contract for three years and so after that Insomniac Games wasn't required to develop Spyro games anymore. Awesome review, as always. This is one of my favorite games of all time because it was pretty much the first game I ever owned. But I DEFINITELY agree with you on those annoying levels, ESPECIALLY on the Bentley boxing level; I almost broke my controller in half about nine times...
I thought heroes tail was alright but came no where close to being as good as the original. It's sad that ETD was the last game to feature the orignal cast and Copeland as well. Good review also!
You showed the Skylanders toy, but didn't really say anything about the game. I'm curious how you actually feel about that game specifically, if you've actually tried it. Personally, I love the game. It's definitely different from the original games, but I think it has a really nice charm to it, and is actually a good game gameplay-wise.
I don't see why Inosomniac couldn't work on both the Sypro and Ratchet and Clank series, it's just not the same when a series is sold off to another company.
I actually really like the GBA Spyro games (except Spyro Orange). Legend of Spyro is just too different. Skylanders... wtf?. Hero's tail feels so unfinished. The first Spyro The Dragon is still my favorite. Spyro 2 adds a lot of variety which i did not like. Spyro 3 adds more. Ripto Quest (a mobile phone game) is shit. Haven't played Enter the Dragonfly or Shadow Legacy.
Now, I've never played the game myself, so I can't really do anything but agree with you on how Bentley would probably be a boring character to PLAY as given how slow he is, but you've GOT to admit he's a fun character in terms of what little personality he's got and in concept. He's a BRITISH YETI! That just equals the same awesomeness that Agent 9 reaches. Sergent Byrd,,, meh, sure he did it before Madagascar did, but Penguin Commandos seems kinda played out if you ask me.

After the Classic Trilogy I think one game is amazing in the Spyro Series Is Spyro Orange/Crash Purple The Best Spyro/Crash Games on a non-Sony Console by far.

Why did insomniac sell the spyro title. If they kept making spyro games like the trilogy for ps2 and ps3 spyro would be so popular. Insomniac even ruined crash and ratchet and clank. @RobbanFoxer That's not stopping the handful of HD Collections already being made for PS3. A Spyro collection would actually take more effort than up'ing the resolution and adding trophies.
@RobbanFoxer That doesn't matter. Remakes would technically be new games since it wouldn't make sense to just up the resolution on the original PS1 versions. They'd have to make new models, remake the code, maybe new voices. It would stand out enough from the original versions to make them worth it. And the Sly Collection is on PSN now, so even though it went there a while after it hit stores, they're not afraid of that.
I liked the boxing was one of the mini games i kept going back to play, then found out by doing this if you have a second controller plugged in it becomes 2 player (think you need to complete it once for this to work)
