There is always some risk to such an operation. Obama wisely let the commander at the location make the call. It would have been a little nicer to take the pirates alive so that they could be the first ones run through the courts in Kenya. Setting up the ability to try them in Kenya took a little work and it would be nice to put the system to the test.
