This is an excellent piece of software! From one music software developer and educator to another, we highly recommend this software to anyone learning music. This software is very intuitive and will make a huge difference in learning all other concepts of music. The faster one develops an ear for intervals, the faster they will proceed through their music education. Thank you Jimmy for advancing the music education system in such an easy and intuitive format.
I play the piano by ear, and this is confusing for me. If I knew what all these numbers and names for notes meant, I would just read music. I guess this is for people that already know how to read music.
This made me change my religion. I have found true God in YouTube, and from today on, I shall bow down to him and worship him. The Lord's name is jimmyrcom
I couldn't comment on your other video, and it says on your channel that I should just comment on your latest vid. It's abotu epsxe.... I was wondering, If I have a ps1 game disc, can i just stick it into my computer and it'll play on the epsxe? (once it has been configured and plugins and bios have been extracted etc..)
I immediately recognized that intervall as greensleves :)
I told my piano teacher about it and that you have so many song-examples for the different intervalls. And she said that this is the way to do it and then I learend to play amazing grace just by ear and memory (had to sing the whole song - and I suck at singing ^^) but than we even added the chords in the left hand and than transposed it to the other 11 scales :) it was great fun - and your video started it :)

no, an interval doesn't sound exactly the same everywhere on the piano, our brain is just pretty good at transposing the rest of the song for us after the first two notes
Study intervals, key signatures, practice scales & circle of fifths......it will take time & commitment....I'm 50 just started learning 4yrs ago you're ready to learn when you become passionate about it.....
Thanks Jimmy. This is good short cut approach that mixes the overly/redundantly defined science of music theory with practical common tunes. Understanding and making music comes down to just "repetition/copy/formula", but the ability to remember and "replay" is the first thing that we need to do.
Not everyone has the ability of knowing what note is what with music theory. You either born with music theory or not and many who are not will never be able to learn music theory. Sorry but that the truth.
@DarkGanon3000 Not everyone is born with music theory? Do you know what music theory is? Learning theory is like learning math.
And if you are referring to absolute pitch, you are wrong. It can be learned and I am living proof of it. Your statement is incredibly confusing. You can acquire at least some degree of pitch recognition and you have to learn theory. You aren't born with theory.
@bttalbot being able to detect what note it is just by ear. And music theory is not like learning math. Their is a difference between these two you have compared. Math you can learn easily while music theory you have to be born with the ability or you just don't got it. Simple as that.
It can not be learned only way is if your family has a talent for that which is most likely from your family. You either born with it or you are not simple as that.
@DarkGanon3000 Theory is simply the study of notes, intervals, counterpoint, and so on. You aren't born with it nor with pitch recognition. It's usually acquired between ages 2-5.
Learn pitch and interval recognition with David Lucas Burge's programs. He speaks a little fruity and it can drag at first but it works. Jimmyrcom bashes it and I'm not sure he even tried. I am proof you can learn after the age of 20.
Are you really clear on your definition of music theory vs pitch recognition?
Look up theory in Wikipedia or Google. There are a lot of free sites.
As for perfect pitch - the ability to recognize different notes by ear, something only a tiny percentage of musicians can do - eartraining(dot)com or perfectpitch(dot)com. These are David Lucas Burge's programs. It works despite jimmyrcom's nonsense saying it doesn't. Like I said, I am proof.
It will take time (months or longer), but it's effects are seen fairly quickly.

Thanks a bunch. I just started with your software and it's actually working. It's frickin hard, but I'm actually able to get it right a lot of the time. I didn't think I'd be able to do it. And thanks for the tutorial video, I'd never have been able to make heads or tails of the software without it. I didn't even know about intervals and stuff before.
I don't think I have ever seen a more thought out, and coherent tutorial on youtube. And I totally agree with what you say about anything "standardized" becoming harder. I think that is the way music majors/teachers (and I don't mean all) try to justify their jobs, because now they have more new music theory to teach.
its weird i picked up the guitar and taught myself. The violin too. im better than my friend and shes been playing for 8 years now with orchestra ans lesson experience. i am in my second year, sophomore, and i play by ear. I didnt use anything to teach me i just know how to do it already.
this isn't bad, but i really think it's better by learning the old school way, just like me.
sit at the piano, and try to pick up the melody. at first ur gonna sound like shit, but in no time, believe me, your gonna be composing, arranging complete melodies, songs with 10 instruments or more, blah blah......it's not that hard if u got the ear for it.

Great great tutorial. Does anyone have any suggestions for a gaming desktop powerful enough to run blackops or any kind of game like that for around 800 us dollars? Any advice will be make me very happy and will earn you a cookie!
LOLOLOLOLOL awesome man, I litteraly laughed out loud when you said the cat phrase. Then when I saw the cat with the gun, I couldn't breath. Bad A-- website and vid. I'm glad you are turning people on to music in a different way, but theory is not harder than it has to be, it is a complex subject. Intervals are only a part of its basis, in our music at least, but understanding temperament and how to create emotion through sound is tough. Good stuff though. I like your website
The time has come for Free energy to be revealed ,But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,if you want a real Free energy Magnet Motor, get the blueprints at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Start the energy revolution!
ok i saw two numbers next to each other....my mind instantly thought of math...and did and automatic shutdown so I don't get all those repressed memories from 10th grade algebra
Maybe Jimmy you could occasionally (1-2/yr) post a new YT video. Compared to me(0) you have the subscriptions of a star. At almost 53 I wish I could make a living with video/internet. I have a slim chance of a job doing so. I'd be honored if you viewed my channel. Peace Jimmy John (a Subscriber) Of course YT hits are often dumb entertainment..just like TV,Facebook,Twitter, etc. Your MILLIONS of views are hardly a failure.
This software is great... too bad I only get the browser version. =P I note how in to the FF this guy is. look at all the FF songs loaded into it. That amuses me. trainear.com ftw

I like your website

hey, jimmy do u know some stuff that can help prepare me for the SAT?
gorba4ov 1 year ago
Maybe Jimmy you could occasionally (1-2/yr) post a new YT video. Compared to me(0) you have the subscriptions of a star. At almost 53 I wish I could make a living with video/internet. I have a slim chance of a job doing so. I'd be honored if you viewed my channel. Peace Jimmy John (a Subscriber) Of course YT hits are often dumb entertainment..just like TV,Facebook,Twitter, etc. Your MILLIONS of views are hardly a failure.
