I immediately recognized that intervall as greensleves :)

I told my piano teacher about it and that you have so many song-examples for the different intervalls. And she said that this is the way to do it and then I learend to play amazing grace just by ear and memory (had to sing the whole song - and I suck at singing ^^) but than we even added the chords in the left hand and than transposed it to the other 11 scales :) it was great fun - and your video started it :)

no, an interval doesn't sound exactly the same everywhere on the piano, our brain is just pretty good at transposing the rest of the song for us after the first two notes

Thanks Jimmy. This is good short cut approach that mixes the overly/redundantly defined science of music theory with practical common tunes. Understanding and making music comes down to just "repetition/copy/formula", but the ability to remember and "replay" is the first thing that we need to do.

@DarkGanon3000 Theory is simply the study of notes, intervals, counterpoint, and so on. You aren't born with it nor with pitch recognition. It's usually acquired between ages 2-5.

Learn pitch and interval recognition with David Lucas Burge's programs. He speaks a little fruity and it can drag at first but it works. Jimmyrcom bashes it and I'm not sure he even tried. I am proof you can learn after the age of 20.

I don't think I have ever seen a more thought out, and coherent tutorial on youtube. And I totally agree with what you say about anything "standardized" becoming harder. I think that is the way music majors/teachers (and I don't mean all) try to justify their jobs, because now they have more new music theory to teach.
