  • I tried to do it but the bracelet zigzags, it has an S shape. I cant do it straight. Is that okey, or am I doing something wrong?

  • @FlorGiorgi It's normal, mine has that slightly. You may be able to make it less noticeable if you pull the knots a bit tighter.

  • @chabbygabby Yes, but the pattern will have the first 5 one way and the next 5 the other way. Not sure if you get what I mean, though.

    Make sure you use about 35 inches of string for each string if you are not folding the strands so you have enough.

  • How big of a wrist does 70 inches of string take?

  • @SickMeDOWN About 6.5 it should make. You may be able to use 65 inches if you make the one main "zigzag" strand @ 1:28 a little longer than the others. Maybe make that yellow about 70 and the rest 65 and you should be okay, I think.

    Open your arms as wide as you can and try to make it that big.

  • @TheDinamostafa The video one has holes because working on a clipboard changes the tension. This was also before I got my new tripod so I was working with the tripod neck between my wrists and only about 5 inches between the bracelet and the camera lens.

    If you mean yours have holes then it's a tension problem/problem with how you are holding your string. Base string firmly, slide the knotting string upward. You can also wiggle it gently once it reaches the top to make it more secure.

  • @ColorMeHappy34 The difference is the backwards knots head to the left. Forward knots head to the right.

    The difference in forward/backward knots is the same as the difference between walking forward vs walking backwards.

  • @Anchiba2 Yeah... I guess that would work. Just set them up as 1 2 1 2 1 - 1 2 1 2 1 instead of 1 2 3 4 5 - 1 2 3 4 5.

  • @hmnblake Yes, yes she does. I was tired and usually am very tired. I barely sleep due to illness... and on top of that there's more illness. I sometimes sound really bad and yet other times I sound fine. If you hear energy in my voice and I sound happy chances are it's been a good day and I don't feel like driving off a cliff due to feeling awfully.

  • @TheVolley34 It's because you're switching directions. I called it the candy ribbon for a reason- it sort of goes back and forth slightly like an actual candy ribbon. If you look closely mine does it too, it's just less pronounced because my focal strings are black.

  • @marra531 I'm surprised you didn't catch that... the video (making it) shows the yellow is the primary. I'm really only teaching patterns so I sometimes will switch colors around. Sorry it confused you.

  • @randomdude175 I tried the stars before... they don't come out well with normal patterns. It'd probably have to be alpha patterns... and I don't really like doing them.

  • @biebercrew10 I have to give enough string for everyone to make one. If you notice a trend of way too much leftover then decrease the length.

    Most people have average wrists and so I must list the average length of string to fit those average wrists. Just measure how much you cut off at the end and subtract that from the standard 65" (inches) for making your bracelets... even in the books 65 is the standard length and for my wrists (average 7.5) it leaves me with just enough to braid the ends.

  • @lovinbracelet If you have a smaller wrist you could do about 60" I guess but I wouldn't go below that.

  • @kmccann76 Yeah.. mine is "autoimmune" so apparently without medicine my body would kill off my thyroid because it is treating it like an organ transplant that is being rejected. It really sucks but hey, there's someone out there with something much worse I just feel lucky that I'm still functioning and able to do stuff regardless of the things going on with me. =x

I think I have something worked out I just need to get the new camera and the tripod I found. I should be making clearer videos which I'm actually comfortable in soon if all goes well. Here's hoping I suppose.

  • @ImmaBLovinU You can but you have to double up on strings. You need to keep the amount of strings but you can use any color set up you want. Just remember putting two of the same color side by side will make thick stripes, to keep them thin you need to space it out.

    I'm trying to convey that you cut 70 inches and then fold the 70 inch string in half... but so many people are thinking I mean 70 inches multiplied for each side?

  • @Kfink5192 i think you should have 140 in. and then fold it in half. cause i have done a zig zag bracelet and it took up ALOT of string.

    I have NEVER needed over 80" inches even for 40 string bracelets.... so 140" would be crazy.

  • @TheHKJS Yeah, if you're using six stranded it can start to come undone if you're not careful. You can get around this by applying a little bit of glue to the very tips before starting. (Just a dab of Elmer's glue would be fine.)

Thanks so much for posting this, you have no idea how far and wide I've been searching. And to see you have so many more! I've been trying to learn more than candy stripe, zig zag and chevron/inverse chevron. Looks like I found my place!

  • @stproductionsx3 I'm guessing it's where it switches from backward knots to forward knots?

    It's common for that problem to happen. I want to say you might not have been holding the base string (string being knotted on) as tight and straight as you should have been... You need to treat it like a beading loom but for knots. That and you need to make sure the knot is settled up in to the little crevice nice and snug before continuing. Once more knots are made they won't slide around to fix gaps.

I just started it and would you know i made a mistake already.After the doing the first set of forwards knots, i then started the backwards knots from where the forwards knots ended. Had to come back and watch your video again. Thanks for the time you've put in for doing this for us.

  • @ayaiah When starting new bracelets try using a cardboard loom... it'll help you see what is going on better- then once you get it started you'll have an easier time working off the loom.

  • @beebitter Like I've told other people, you're welcome to use less and see if you can manage but you'll probably just end up with a keychain.

    It seems LOTS of people are skeptical about how long the strings need to be so I just suggest they try using less just to see for themselves WHY you need more... besides, the only way to really learn is by experiencing it. I will say this though, anything under 55" will definitely be way too short.

  • at 4:09 when I knotted the yellow onto the green it had a big distance and it wasn't knotted right next to each other. Was that normal? I hope I didn't explain that too weirdly.

  • @Roxixane456 What do you mean end it? To make it an even line instead of the weird shape? If that's what you mean then yeah- incomplete rows at the very end would help it be more even looking at the end.

  • @shelleybelly4evr have you tried the awareness ribbon pattern? Use the rainbow color strings in place of color 1(the background strings) and use a white for color 2(the ribbon string). It produces a multi colored puzzle piece looking background with white ribbon...basically a reversed autism awareness ribbon bracelet. Not sure if it would please you or not but my peoples like it. :0) have fun knothead.

    You want to use 70cm you can but you won't end up with anything but a keychain.

  • Does it have to be 10 strings or can you do any number as long as you use an even number? Also... would it work cutting one strand 6"-12" longer and set it up to be the one that divides it up? (ie: the yellow strand in this video) Wouldn't that be easier than knotting to swap the short for the longer one? Just curiousities for me.. I love your vids. Wish you would combine all onto a disc and sell it. :0) let me know if you do...I'll buy the 1st copy.

  • @MAMA2TRES You could do this with any number of strings so long as you keep the same method.

    As for "easier cutting the one yellow strand longer" this would be difficult since only one side of the yellow would be used. You'd have to pull it off center in order to make one side of the yellow REALLY long vs one side normal. I like the swapping method because it can be used in any pattern.

    See, I swap near the ends of bracelets if I need to squeeze out another inch or so of pattern- it works!
