  • I liked The Lion King. I hated Minority Report. I like 2001 . . . in my own way. Incredibles? Haven't seen it. I saw NCFOM in theatres and felt little to nothing from it. Later I thought about the concepts and began to appreciate the idea behind it. I also thought the directing was great. Sadly, the screenplay lacks and apparently so does the book that I've heard many talk about. Much like the sheriff played by Jones, I don't know what to say.

  • He completely backlashed Slumdog Millionaire without any justification and reason. Like the Lion King, his argument was "The kid is a douchebag" as if being a young and foolish character (aka being realistic) in a con.

  • @Jmarley912 Wait, when did he backlash SM?

  • @NeverAloneForever It's on his site, he's got a link leading to the blip.tv file.

  • @Jmarley912 Thanks.

  • Finally, who do they think they are? No offense to anyone, but I watch 2001 all the time, it's my favorite movie. I've dissected it MANY times. And they all bring up arguments that make no sense and act as if I don't know crap about the movie and they know. To refuse to look further into the film is to negate your right to argue against it. By refusing to TRY to understand the film's worth, they are hurting their chances of making a case for it's LACK of worth.

  • I think CM likes conventional storytelling a little too much, and goes to the opposite extreme in an attempt to prove a point - a guy is looking around and not saying anything, it has to be CUT! Never mind that indirect characterization is a narrative technique and is most likely being used here, it's the Coens' fault! Most people who agree with him have the mentality that if they didn't like it, it's the movie's fault. And they think they're right when attacking a film they barely understand.

  • The plot of 2001 isn't flawed if you ask me. I think it's just quiet and could easily be missed. The style of Kubrick is FOLLOW THE LEAD CHARACTER. 2001's lead character is Humanity, and so the film focuses entirely on humanity. So we only know what our characters know. In FMJ, we spend all of our time with Private Joker. In ACO, we spend all of our time with Alex. In 2001, we see what the characters see. Thus, the film expects you to know certain things without explicitly stating them.

  • Dude he never said it was a dark movie. He said it was depressing and synical.

  • Minority Report was a ridiculas movie.

You praised it for the action?

The scenes of Anderton jumping between cars, the jet-pack police, anderton built into a car in a factory and it driving away, etc. were way too ridiculas to deserve praise.

  • you actually sat down, thought of and wrote a 15 min response to defend

a movie. You truly have a passion for movies. I was also going to do a response

but im shure it wasnt going to be this good. Congratulations and thanks!

  • I wasn't too big a fan of the ending, but I loved the first 80% of the movie

  • Impressive response, Lord. If I may make one suggestion, please give more credit to the book's author Cormac McCarthy. The Coens adapted this book using almost all of his original plot and some scenes are written word for word as they were in the book.

I read the book before I saw the movie and I thought the Coen Bros. did a fantastic job keeping the book's tension and symbolism, while incorporating their own style and drole humor into it.

  • Great response!

  • very well done reponse personaly with respect to chase i feel like your response was better then chases response to 2001.
