The thing i've disliked about Gamboa since i've seen him fight, he lacks style when fighting. It's pretty much an ugly, no discipline street fight. He has power, and speed, but thats about it. Sure that has worked in bringing an unexpected angle to his fighting, but it could also mean exposing his holes to a more attentive fighter. Juanma has both things plus more of a proper stance and discipline, and although he sometimes loses his head and brawls, it's a rare moment.

IMO I think Gamboa is the true test for Juanma, I give Gamboa the edge cuz his overwhelming speed as well as power may be all it takes to stop Juanma. The thing i've disliked about Gamboa since i've seen him fight, he lacks style when fighting. It's pretty much an ugly, no discipline street fight. He has power, and speed, but thats about it. Sure that has worked in bringing an unexpected angle to his fighting, but it could also mean exposing his holes to a more attentive fighter. Juanma has both things plus more of a proper stance and discipline, and although he sometimes loses his head and brawls, it's a rare moment.

IMO I think Gamboa is the true test for Juanma, I give Gamboa the edge cuz his overwhelming speed as well as power may be all it takes to stop Juanma. Never the less Juanma has enough to beat Gamboa if he can figure out a strategy that would able him to last in the fight. If Juanma is to beat Gamboa it would have to be in the first 6 rounds. As far as Concepcion, he is dangerous but I think is a style that Juanma can handle.

....Anyone that knows their boxing would have noticed that Mtagwa weighed 122.5 lbs when he fought Gamboa who weighed at 126. Mtagwa was just a half pound above the 122 weight class. It basically was a Super Bantamweight vs Featherweight. Gamboa had a huge advantage as the BIGGER man. Weight is a major factor in boxing. Because of this I'm not sold by Gamboa's performance......

What's good bro. I have to honestly say that I'm not too impressed with Juanma lately. He did a good (not great) job with Luevano but, I feel he needs a little more than what he's showing lately to beat Gamboa. Juanma's definitely lost some punching power at 126. He needs to start adding an effective jab with better timing to help against Gamboa's speed. I see a lot of flaws in Gamboa also.....

every great fighter gets test atleast one's going up the ranks the point is that he stood his ground and didnt get knocked down...and geting gold dont mean shit the pros is a whole new game..there are alot of cubans that win gold and dont make it big in the pro's.4 example jorge diaz when he knocked out cold a cuban gold metalist named barlemy the same guy that beat gamboa in the amateurs...so to me is all hype intill i see a cuban make it big in the pro's the big boys no head gear shit!!!

People keep mentioning those knockdowns as if they are a determining factor to who will win the fight between the two. I don't see that as a weakness. Gamboa's first 17 fights are better than Juanma's. Yes Gamboa has touched the canvas, but atleast it was better competition than Mtagwa who almost knocked Juanma out.
To me, the bigger weakness so far has come from Juanma who has never faced a fighter as fast or naturally gifted as Gamboa. That will be the determining factors.

Compare both fighters up to 17 fights. Gamboa has the way better record. Plus, you can't say he hasn't fought the best before. He's got a gold medal. They are putting him on a quick path through the pros for a reason.
