After watching food inc, and seeing how the animals are treated in the slaughterhouses before they are shredded and packaged and remains end up in supermarkets i decided to not eat meat anymore unless i hunt it myself and pay respects to the animal i kill, and hunting with a bow would be my chosen tool to harvest it.

@SimonSaysBaka Strangely enough I do know what a bear is - and I know they generally do not attack if not provoked. Why not leave them alone? I think it's pathetic to creep up on an animal and then shoot it for the "fun" of it. The first thing the bear knows is the arrow in its back. And don't try and justify this by claiming that the bear is dangerous - wouldn't you be if you had been shot? Its no contest. Which would you rather be - the bear or the guy with his toy?

@arsovatiticus I'm not trying to justify anything, I'm just stating a fact that the risk is high compared to hunting with a rifle, since a rifle kills the animal much faster, is more accurate and can be reloaded faster. I do not condole hunting with a bow, since you need to be a master marksman so you wont just injure the animal. A rifle is better, but I'm just saying, bears are far from defenseless, if he misses things can turn ugly. Maybe you don't have many bears where you live? we have alot.

@SimonSaysBaka im sorry mate but u obviously dont know alot about bows for one they can be more accurate in shot placement then a rifle purely because ur 30 metres max from and animal when shooting. secondly u dont ruin meat anywhere near as badly with a bow compared to a rifle. and thirdly u obviously dont know much about modern compounds and SIGHTS, RELEASE AIDES need i say more if the bow is tuned right then an average archer can take down something just as well as an expert rifle shooter.

@ash6248 No, no, and no again, Bows are much, much harder to learn how to master, and accurately hit targets with, don't know what planet you come from but this is earth, and the most accurate weapon on the planet are guns, any idiot can learn how to aim and shoot a rifle with accuracy, a bow on the other hand, not so much. Yes you do not ruin as much meat with a bow that I can agree on, but you got to realise how good of a marksman you have to be to match any idiot with a rifle.

tell me this then oh wise and great idiot. if i handed a TUNED rifle to someone with a few pointers and about a dozen rounds do u think they could hit a can at 50 meters. yes. if i handed a TUNED bow to someone with a few pointers with all the bells and whilstles just like the rifle with its scope. give them a dozen shots and they would be able to hit a can at 20 meters. yes. its closer but is it not shooting at least 900 fps slower then even some of the slowest rifles.

@SimonSaysBaka OK lets get a couple things straight.. and compound bow is easy to shoot, when i first shot mine I nearly hit bullseye at 30 meters.. On the other hand a rifle is very easy to shoot. so naturally if you handed a bow and a gun to 2 inexperienced hunters, the kid with the gun is going to trample the kid with the bow.

BUT.. people will agree with me wheni say this.I get a heaps bigger adrenaline rush when im chasing a kangaroo with my bow than with my rifle.

a bare bow or longbow/recurve i will agree u do have to be a expert before u shoot something but with modern compounds sights and release aides any idiot can shoot accurately if the bows tuned right and ive proved it before given a few people who could draw my bow easily and they werent struggling to shoot told them how to draw what to do like a rifle shooter would to a new shooter told them to use the peep sight to line it up with the front sight and with in a few shots they hit
