You are truly the Cats Pajamas on instructional Pedal Steel Videos! You have inspired me to kick it up a couple of notches and add some new elements to my own performances. Love the technique, the break down especially when your camera angle affords us a view of your foot and leg action. Your personality just exudes from the videos - thank you for all the effort and time that you have given to an very appreciative fellow bar slider. Thnx! Randy in Whitehouse Ohio
I am fascinated by the pedal steel. Looks like playing is a real labor of love. I should have known from the badge and the coloring in the frets that it was an Emmons, but I don't have that much exposure. I had been looking to buy one for a while back when I had money. Tones and key/chord changes sure sounded great. The whole thing had me grinning. Thanks for posting.
More Lonesome LA Cowboy -- You might be interested, some nice Buddy Cage steel work, about a minute break at 2:36 to 3:24 youtube.com/watch?v=RAjKJppeYNw
I just saw NRPS at Patriot Place,Foxborough MA last night .David Nelson and Buddy Cage are still the BALLS .Buddy has to be one of the best Pedal Men in the world . I nominate him to Rock n Roll Hall of Fame What a great stage presence they have . Perfect Synergy Rock on
Nice song to post Mickey, Regards to Marmadukes family, "When death come calling..--.""Them that dies young is the lucky ones.."-Only thing to do is Smile , Smile, Smile, We are lucky to have so many great artists in our life.
I wish you were in NYC -- it's one of my goals to learn pedal steel, mostly because I get goose bumps when I hear Buddy. Thanks for thinking to post your "how to" on the "tube."
Wow~! You really nail these solos almost perfectly like the originals.....I just noodle and try to follow the chord progressions......but like I say....Wow!
Thanks Limbery...The purpose of the excercises tha I have posted in past videos have been the key to developing the ear. The ability to "hear" effectively what a player is playing is necessary if youre trying to copy another musicians ideas. I was given this gift at a very young age. Now, I can hear the difference in timber from one string to another...I can tell you what string the note is on..You too can develop this ability...Thanks for your comments......Mickey in Vegas
