Don't forget that under Turkish administration the region were called Rumelia.
Why? It was inhabited by large latin population; so it may be that the bulgarian and aromanian influenced each other in any aspects of culture, including clothing.
Yes, this is the reality and an open mind can accept it but there are "narrow-minded" who are not agree with this reality. Becouse of some politic initiatives, all romanian names were changed by adding an sufix ..OV same in Serbia adding ..OVIC .Example, my mother cousins are bulgarians now (my grandfather left Varna ..some 90 years ago and his brothers remained in Bulgaria)..I can say that may second, third, fourth degree cousins and nephews are bulgarians..:)) All the best.
That kind of women cloths made by velvet are tipical for south-vlahs and there are influenced by old Venice fashion. Vlahs were "balkan,s tradesmen" not only sheepheards and always in contact with Venice tradesmen. South Bulgaria,s region were inhabited once in a large number by vlahs (meglen-romanians) but today their number is only around few thousands and other few thousands still there are across the border in Greece. Perhaps that,s why you know those suites.
