Hallo, I am Marius, you told something in the video that nobody is watching it but you`re doing your videos, I have to tell you that I`m watching the videos and I really struggle to pronunciation the words correctly, so you are doing a good job overthere, and I like the videos are familliar. Sehr Danke!!
I love these videos! My uncle lives in Germany and I'm trying to learn some so I can speak some basic German with him. After 5 minutes of repeating and repeating I got the two pronunciations of the 'ch' combo down. :P Danke!
You know everbody is speaking english, but it isn't that easy at all!
I mean, german is still way more difficult, but the letters are easier to pronounce for they are always clearly determined like german "ö" which is always an "ö".
In english e, i u and o can be pronounced like "ö" in e.g.: Terminal, work, thirst or curse!
you would make an excellent tutor, teacher or even a speech therapist. Actually , you already do! oi ! as in pirate as in oi as n american slang
AC/DC TNT
so what i am actually trying to say ,. is oi - you are so beautiful and fun loving,.
but i often use oi ,. as slang for almost anything i can think of,.( oi ?- ( do ya get it, ) LOL . 8P thanks again for teaching me such a beautiful language,. i will ask you about your letter Y one day,. ? very odd,.
@EHeizerPhotography Don't the Bavarian's roll/trill their r? I'm hoping so, because learning Spanish and then going to German really isn't a good mix. haha I heard it is the Bavarians that do roll their r's.. but not as much as the Spanish r.. right? It's kinda like a softer rolling r? I need to get it down somehow.. so I can feel better with my German...
@rbatheNORSEMAN The main difference is that in spain you roll your tongue tip up to produce the "r"-rolling sound. In German it's more like trying to snarl ( in many cases the "r" is just pronunced more likely as "e-a"(except in bavaria as you said))
@ E heizerphotography: She seems to use standard German (high German).
@IRoXXI So is it okay if I was was to roll my r's in German? Is it acceptable? I'm of mostly German descent honestly and I just wanna learn the language of my ancestor's. Ya know? :) I know not to roll it as thick as the Spanish do, right? Just kinda like a "light" roll, right?
@rbatheNORSEMAN Ja, you can do so, it wasn't wrong. However, you'll be noticed as a foreigner if you roll it too much^^(I'd try to "roll" it only directly after consonants (bavarians and austrians(for example hitler as a popular austrian) roll the "r" strongly also after vocals; untypical for the rest of the German dialects(or High German))
@IRoXXI Right. So I can roll it but not as much as the Spanish, Italians, and Portuguese do.. right? I know if I practice my German as much as I do/did my Spanish, I shouldn't sound too much like a foreigner. :P But I wouldn't care as long as my accent isn't too thick.. ya know? By the way, do Germans like American accents anyways? As long as the accent isn't too thick.. right?
@rbatheNORSEMAN Yes you can do it so(although it's not the same way to roll, as I said^^). I think you'll learn it quickly if you keep practicing.
PS: I can't say that all Germans like American accents. There are some who like it/don't like it / don't care. It's as everywhere individual I think.
Personally, I like American English more than British English ( No offense, but the nasal pronounciation in BE sounds kind of gay, and definitly not cool).
What dialect of German do you speak/is this? I just started my course and there are some variations in the pronunciations and the sounds of the letters. It is enough of a difference that I am not sure if I should use the video to practice (which I want to do because this is so good- eeek!). Our teacher spoke about "high" German and Bavarian as a couple of different dialects. We are learning high German. What is this considered?
@EHeizerPhotography what your teacher called "High german" is the normal german language it has no special variation and it is also what she is speaking. I don´t know why your teacher said, that "THE" other version is Bavarian ?!O.ô because in germany allmost every village and city has an other variation...so sounds "Kölsch" (that is spoken in Cologne) different than what your teacher is called Bavarian (that is only spoken in Bavaria but I gues you know that ^^)
Hi, Kiwi, I'm learning German, I started my German lessons two days ago at an institute. And I feel a little self-confident because I realize now that German is, in a certain way, similar to English. I've been watching your videos in the last days and I just wanted to thank you because they are very useful to me. You have a good technique in transmitting your knowledge. Thanks for posting. Greetings from Mexico. Bye and take care.
