It also shows why Anthrax failed, why they never made it big. Sure, they sold loads to real fans but never to the rest. This song reeks of 70s bad hardrock, it's not the trash they should have made.

Randy's black Rhoads with gold hardware was the first Jackson RR shape and every RR guitar after that is a variation on a theme even to this day. Robin Crosby designed the King V and James Hetfield had an Ivory version in 1985/1986 while Dave Mustaine was the most known one with the black gold logo king V which is now in Finland and youtube too.

Dan Spitz has technique, but Kirk has written some great solos that people really remembered and will remember for a long time. With all the respect Dan just shreds fast over the rhythm and his solos don't really stand out like Kirk's. Plus Metallica got more respect than Anthrax 'cause they created longer and more serious music. Now about Charlie, you're correct, he doesn't get enough respect. Even Lars and Dave Lombardo of Slayer say that.

@VlaDuZa I WAS speaking more in the technical/creativity realm. However melodically Kirk was better i must admit. Btw, this post was a while ago when I was a bit biased to be honest. The outro solos in Hangar 18 where Dave trades with Marty are pretty memorable and the chops are insane. Just look at the stretching run(most guitarists who cover it use tapping because the span is so huge) and btw, I give Dave the edge because he's a better rhythm guitarist/riff creator which is important in metal.

Yeah the Hanger 18 solos are cool, but I have been to a Megadeth show a few months back, and Dave really had a lot of fuck ups in his solos. Technically I'd say Kirk is superior, but y'know Dave writes all of the music for Megadeth so I really like and respect him (as a musician, as a person he is a complete ass even though he is among the few people in this world who support my country, Israel). Anyways I think it's stupid to compare music, just listen to what you like and enjoy!

@VlaDuZa Kirk isn't technically superior to anyone of the well-known thrash metal bands (I'm including Overkill, Testament, Exodus, Annihilator, and whoever you like). Been to two Megadeth shows, Mustaine did well back then, but I don't mean that he never fails. But, if you hear him failing when he does, maybe that's because he's not hiding behing a wah pedal the whole show. Just saying.

Yeah but technique isn't the most important thing. Dave doesn't "hide" behind the wah pedal because he rarely plays solos, lol it's not that Kirk uses the wah wah even when he plays rhythm.

As for Dave's solos, they are not so few... he plays rhythm and lead, while the other guitar player focuses on lead, much like K. King does in Slayer. But Dave does some lead at least in half the songs they play live.

I think his biggest live fail was the tribute to Dime with Dream Theater when he played the Cemetery Gates solo. But hey, who gives a shit, they are all legends and have their names written down in the history of Metal (and music in general).

You may not like the solo, I also prefer Dimebag's, but someone fails when he's not able to play his own solos properly. They're all metal legends, but I'm actually suprised Kirk got to be one. He's lucky, and he's done a lot with the talent he has, but I'd say he doesn't belong in Metallica or Exodus, but in a smaller band. Just my opinion, I'm not trying to teach you anything.

Lol dude, with all the respect to him, that solo fucking sucked, even I could have improvised something better than that. He played in a completely unsuitable scale and was out off tune and wasn't even in the same rhythm as the drummer. I mean if you pay a tribute to a great artist, play it right. If you can't don't play at all. But again, it doesn't matter, we all know it was just a bad day for him. Same with Kirk, you have performances when he kicks ass, and some that he doesn't.
