No one else ever came close to this mans voice and songwriting talent, it was fantastic to have grown up and listened to this guy in the sixties when he was alive and recording these wonderfull stories of love and sadness. RIP Roy.
10yrs of age when Roy Orison first entered my memory for his singing ability. That really never changed except for some maturity in his vioce. Even when he was with "the Traveling Wilbury's his voice showed above the rest. Today I still get that same feeling of elation when I hear him sing whether it be one of his first songs to the last ones he performed.
Better than the version of the Platters. Best version ever! Best voice ever, nobody could sing like Roy and nobody will never sing like The Big O. I miss you very much my friend, rest in peace!
@SirBasildeBrush Ty so very much Bas. I adore Roy, and anything I can listen to that's a bit out of the norm. is wonderful to me. I have many of his vinyls and CD s.plus vids, also double recordings of Sky arts 1, which is fantastic. I haven't got this old Platters number so once again ty xxx Glenda-Marie.
a nice and song brillent my prayer its melts me carl lawson 1000000000000000000000000 per cent good from for love greif depression it will heal ur pain his voice and music
True, Tony Williams and his Platters were in a class of their own and, if I were a singer, only with a great deal of trepidation would I cover one of their classics; but the Big O almost makes one forget the original. The Big O, in my opinion, actually surpasses The Platters in the more direct vocal at the beginning, but The Platters do better on the bridge, with Williams' more dramatic, indeed operatic, inflections.
La version original es de la gran epoca de The Platters y es una obra maestra.Aqui estamos en la mas maravillosa epoca de el grandisimo Roy y nos brinda una excelente version.
A Treasure...wow... the power in his voice!

Big,Big O. My FAVORITE.

Roy Hamilton does a version of this - not to be mixed up with -stupidly enough- another, completely different song by the same name.
Roy Hamilton does this exact same song - but I can't find the thing here anymore - where'dit go?
You gotta hear it. Even after hearing Orbison do this - I think Hamilton's is the cat's pajamas.
Can't find it - but I must. I have it on itunes - found on Limewire. But can't find it here anymore...

One thing I have to say about Roy's version, he has the strongest ending out of all the versions.
