@bisono64 i would tell you to either get the Linksys E4200 or the Netgear Wndr 4000. if you wanna spend the extra money. if not look at the other video i posted since most are great for gaming
i have a fairly old modem will this effect the speed of the router? my speed is pretty slow its around 1.2 mbps but im updating tomrrow to 6mbps so theres no way for me to know if the modem is what's slowing up the speed i have a router right now that im not happy with so im planning on getting this one.
@fingers12 The modem will make it even more slower. if you had 10 or 20 or 50 and you use the router it's still very fast but what your doing wont work and if it does work and your trying to play like black ops online your gonna lag right off.
@hardcoregamerlv i lag a lot when my sister is on the laptop using youtube, facebook, etc i cant play my ps3 without laging. i think i get around 15 mbps from cox but its probably reduced by my netgear router and modem. so will this router give me a lag free expericance (on ps3 games like call of duty)? Also, i did the speed test and got 0.72 download speed and 0.37 upload speed :( and im using ethernet to my ps3, thanks!
@rahulgamer101 i would say no. i would look at the dlink dgl 4500 so you can prioritize what traffic goes where. so in your case your ps3 will have a better lag free experience. if you find a used or refurbished one i would say go for it
I did that speed test and it says we get over 3mbps for download but my son said when he downloads he only gets like 1mbps. the ISP pkg we have says up to 3mbps. we never get that it seems. can we improve this w/o upgrading to the 5mbps pkg? thank you much
@Igentenos i would say if you and your son are both on the pc at the same time and you are both wireless i would get something faster then 3m. if you can get 10m that will help a geart deal. and it dosnt matter if he plays wow or starcraft 2 as long as you have the QoS (Quality of Service) set up on the router and to do this make sure you go into applications and gameing in the router setting.
@hardcoregamerlv thanks for the advice. we pay $35 for the 3m and it would be $135 for 10m. 75 for 5m. i have no idea about the QoS. So I just go into the router settings select gaming. I think i did that. i think i had to choose between the 2.4g and the other channel to select for gaming and the other says video? thanks
@Igentenos make sure in the router both 2.5 and 5 are both set up i always make it easer by setting both have the same name but 5 will hay 5GHz at the end of the name and same with the 2.4Ghz
@Igentenos 3mbs is great for 1 person as long as there not doing a lot great for email and simple web surfing. i would say the faster the mbps the better if there 2 or more pc in the house and both are wirless the faster is a must
is there a way i can dedicate one channel to a specific computer? my son plays games like Star Craft 2, WOW etc. is there a way to get peak performance changing something on the router? we have one other wireless laptop and one hardwired desktop into the router. thank you!
@Igentenos And yes there is a way you can have 2 different channels since this is a dual band router. make sure that you set up the router on the on search bar type 192.168.1 and that should allow you to change everything in the router and set up a password aswell. i think the default username leave blank and the default admin name is password
Where the hell do people get Internet that fast from?!?!?!

iAmInsaine22 7 months ago
@iAmInsaine22 in nv our low is like 3meg and the max would be 50meg service but they ask $119 a month for it
hardcoregamerlv 7 months ago
@hardcoregamerlv $119 a month? whoa thats crazy.
my internet cost me about $40 Canadian dollar a month. but its slow it gives me about 54 Mbps

What is a "standard" ethernet port?
You probably mean 100 mbps ports.
