Learn to differentiate "potential" from "champion" pal. Of course Marat has unbelievable talent, but if he is as wonderful as you propose where is his #1 ranking today? #2? #3? #4? Yesterday? Day before? Last week? Month? Year?
@OneSteveUnderGod Man, you are one weird guy. I've not even bothered to read all of that utter nonsense, I did laugh a little though. You're the one, however, that seems to assume people have psychic abilities because any normal person would look at that and think that Safin is definitely a champion. As wonderful as I propose? I am stating simple facts.
@OneSteveUnderGod Where is he now? Well he is 30 years old and in 2005 soon after the Australian Open he suffered a very serious knee injury that he never fully recovered from. He very likely wouldn't be top 10 today anyway at this age. Marat was a head case even during his best years, he suffered from injuries left and right and those are the two things that stopped him from winning more slams, but that is why I admire him, I can relate to him, he's human and he done very well even with this.
This is the very reason a guy like him will never be a champion. He is his own worst enemy. When you're that unstable it is a hindrance long term, usually. Guys like McEnroe were at least able to focus that energy throughout a match and play each point one at a time, whereas Safin is just unstable from shot to shot many times. Too bad too because when he's on he can beat anyone. I still like the guy in any regard.
Actually Safin is a champion. The guy has had multipule injuries and has still bagged 2 slams - beating the two best players ever (Pete and Fed) on his way. Go figure.
@Anaconda43VR I meant champion as in #1 in the world for an extended period of time. I actually saw him beat Roger a few years back, so I know he's been a tournament champion.
When he's on his game he is ridiculously good, but when he's off, well,
@Anaconda43VR I know how he feels. I have more injuries than Evel Knievel. Granted I'm not the best in the world at anything accept not being the best at anything, lol.
@MaratSafinVideos It's not my definition of champion. It's a level of champion I was referring to in regard to long-term staying power which Safin lacks mentally. I made a statement with a certain thought in mind and he misunderstood it, so I explained what I meant within the context of that conversation alone; therefore your understanding of my definition is what is flawed because it's impossible for you to know exactly what I'd meant, hence your statement is unfounded based on supposition.
@OneSteveUnderGod There was no relative context to support your flawed and ridiculous definition. You said that he'd never be a champion, yet he was the best player on the entire planet winning the biggest titles internationally after barely affording 2 pairs of trousers. It doesn't matter what twaddle you come up with in supporting YOUR OWN definition, the fact is that you're wrong. Marat Safin is not only a champion but one of the most adored tennis professionals ever to lift a racket.
@MaratSafinVideos Listen Nancy, obviously you have a fixation which leads me to know you've a great deference in regard to the things you've failed to accomplish in your own life, so don't come crying to those around you who have minimal caring as to whether or not he or you have won or lost anything. Has he lived up to his potential? No - fact.
In the scheme of everyone's lives, who have more prevalent issues apart from an occasional comment here, this is as impertinent as it gets you whiner.
@OneSteveUnderGod P.S. What I've learned in my life, that I seek to apply when it comes to picking my battles, is that if the subject matter is relevant in that it effects others in a positive way and doesn't simply linger as a means of saving mine or someone else's ego, then I engage. If it serves no purpose other than to grate on someone else's insecurity as they or I seek to appease or denigrate either or, then I disengage; hence you are hereby blocked now and forever.
@MaratSafinVideos Learn how to decipher what was directed toward you and stop proposing to possess psychic abilities as you project your means upon those who lend thoughts to others.
You're one of these "You'd better think like me or I'll fabricate my own preponderance so as to create the needed facade that bolsters my insecurities." shame...i've just finished my study's and was looking forward to wimbledon this year. i watch it every year but there's always that nagging feeling that i should be revising. this year however...i wanted to sit back and relax but now with no Marat...why is he retiring....he's not old.
Actually, me and my sister already started missing Marat! Anyone can play, but who can make such a great "show" on the courts, like he did? He is so funny! And it's funny that he doesn't even try to be funny, but he is! I remember once he told to a chair umpire, in a live match : "You're such a d**k !" He's such a funny guy!
In 2005. Unfortunatelly I don't have the vid. I saw it on TV. The match was stopped at a time because it starts raining, and when the chair umpair said the players can start playing the court was still wet, and Marat get angry and said that.
@Lelica3 Marat was sending bullets down the other end, and so Roger was too afraid to return those serves, for his own well being and for his dear old Wilson rackets, haha!
you probably don't understand english very well then. It has to do with sex... he looks like he's giving oral sex at 0:17. I'm sorry I had to explain it to you.
It used to be really entertaining when he used to smash rackets as like a 22 year old, generally before 2005 (before the injury when he was winning big tournaments), but when he does it now, it's hard to watch because he isn't the same player he was.
Another guy which gets quickly angry is Xavier Malisse but i haven't found any video yet... And Today Fernando Gonzalez got angry too at the french open about a ball that seemed out but was actually in (He met Robin Soderling)
He should save all the broken raquets and then open up a museum...describing each of the raquet's history. hahahahaa, then again they don't have much history.
it was a long rally and Felix Mantilla was hitting some tough shots, however he eventually won the point. He got so tired of the rally that e pulled down his short meaning he gives up.
it happened on one of Roland Garros matches. Can't recall what year it was.
