  • whats the song? my iphone shazam app cant get it.

  • @ChrisL1100 X Ray Dog - Final Hour

    It's in the description

  • @Quidtucenam Fair enough, there were a few guys like John Henry Lewis that he faced in his prime. His greatness is, for me, his beautiful 1947 KO of Walcott in their 2nd fight, proving that whatever racial barriers existed, Louis would have been dominant because Walcott was damn good, as seen in their first fight. l dont say this to diminish his greatness. He was just SO much better than the available competition, like Clay/Ali in the 60's and Tyson in the late 80's.

  • @pilates68 Agreed

  • @Quidtucenam For whatever reason? What reason do you think, in 1930's America, there might have been? I didn't say he avoided them, the point I was making was that most black fighters of the 30's were not even allowed to fight professionally and even get ranked to challenge for the title. That's why we don't even know their names. Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, and Archie Moore all fought in that circuit before finally entering mainstream pro boxing in the late 40's when Louis was done.

  • @pilates68 Sorry, I'm used to the arguement that Louis' avoided 'x sort of fighter'

While it's fully possible that there were black contenders that were more talented than some of the opposition Joe Louis faced, but you can't really fault him for that, he faced every #1 contender bar two for a full quarter of a century. Every fighter that managed to distinguished himself, he fought.

Also he fought and beat black contender John Henry Lewis, as well as Elmer Ray in an exhibition match.

  • Hamas left the sport before a fight with Louis could happen, and Bettina was highly-ranked while Joe Louis was in the army and dropped off by 1946.

  • Only Max Schmeling and Billy Conn were talented enough to give Joe Louis trouble. Despite the "cinerella man" stuff, l don't regard Jimmy Braddock as being anything but a decent tough guy and the same for Max Baer. These ware not accomplished boxers by any means. They were in Dempsey's shadow, and they fought like it, aggressive head hunting, but limited boxing skills.

  • It should be said that Joe Louis did not face some of the other talented black fighters of the day because the white sports world did not believe that a white audience would pay to see two black fighters. Louis ended up facing mostly unskilled tough man types who were way out of his league. Attitudes would change, and by the end of his career Ezzard Charles and Joe Walcott were given an opportunity to fight for his title. Louis was great, but this truth is undeniable.

  • @pilates68 Which black fighters did he avoid? He fought EVERY relevant fighter, it just so happens that there weren't that many black ones in this era for whatever reason. He beat the three black contenders who reached #1 status (CHarles, Walcott and Bivins)

Louis fought every champion between Tunney and Patterson, every #1 contender between Young Stribling in 1928 and Nino Valdes in 1953 with the exceptions of Steve Hamas and Melio Bettina.

  • ma dream fight would sonny liston vs joe louis ..both hard punchers

  • People say Joe is too small to be a HW today but let us not forget when Louis KO'd the 260 pound Buddy Baer and the 6'6 250 pound Primo Carnera.

Louis would be champion today,he would KO Wlad Klitschko easy.

  • Yeah Rez, amazing video. They're all good, especially the Ray Robinson, this one too

  • prime louis v prime marciano. mate rocky wouldnt be stupid enough to risk his life.

  • They could run but they couldn't hide !!

  • WHY THE FUCK IS ALI KNOWN AS THE GREATEST?!?! JOE LOUIS IS OFF THE CHAIN

  • never beenso happy to see a german get whooped

  • @HominidaeHuman its actually in this video aswell whatch from 1:58 for a couple of seconds you will see a guy do a 360 when hit. is this talk cheap aswell? lol :)

  • @HominidaeHuman by the way it may not be in this video but i have seen in another highlight vid joe hit a guy and they did a full on 360

  • @HominidaeHuman lol look at joe louis's knock out in this vid, it looks like a 360 to me...

  • easily the best joe louis highlight on youtube.

  • @HominidaeHuman, lol yea. I really exaggerated, but still i bet Louis had the power to make someone do a 360

  • Earnie Shavers knocked people's head off

George foreman turned people's brain into dust

Rocky Marciano broke people's bones to mush

    Mike Tyson Annihilated people

Joe Louis quite simply.... MURDERED.... people... I swear, I've never seen a guy get hit so hard to where they do a dam 360 DEGREE SPIN before falling

  • 0:46, my god what a right hand to the head of that guy

  • Comment removed

  • Joe Louis could punch like a freight train. Ali was a better boxer, better footwork, but I give the punching edge to Joe Louis.

  • My Dad was a kid when Louis (Barrow) fought. He said he was the best heavyweight ever. You could see by his punch he was deadly. Thank you, this is a great tribute!

  • 1:06 damn i who he felt that for the rest of his life

  • Damn, he hit the man so hard, the man turn around like the video game prize fight!!! LOL!!!!

  • @jjowee

haha yea, I still have yet to see another boxer punch somebody so hard they do a 360 spin before hitting the canvas

  • @reznick6 I have to agree with you. I've never seen someone with the kind of power that Joe Louis had and could deliver. My god when knocked out Billy Coon and the way he walked away after Coon fell was just out of this world. Not a care in the world of him ever getting up. I've never seen anything like that. I don't think there has ever been a fighter that could have beaten this man in his prime. He was just devastating.

  • @reznick6 i think i saw iran barkley do it to roberto duran. Then duran came right back and lit up barkley.

  • Brilliant, I often watch the old fighters but the footage is so grainy it's hard to see whats going on. Well done resnick6 amazing quality, and it shows you Joe Louis really was a MAN amongst men

  • Great video! The combination at 1:14 is just awesome!

  • One of my favorite things about Joe's KOs was his slow walk back to his corner. Not cocky or angry, but almost regal.

  • @cet0708 Yes, it's like he expected the knockout so he never even celebrated scoring the KO you really wish you could see more of that today

  • @cet0708 he didn't act cocky or gloat when he knocked his opponents down because that's how he was told to act in order to gain the respect of the white public at the time

  • good video the best joe louis tribute

  • amazing video...loved it!!

  • Every Joe Louis fans have to have your amazing video on their favorites, your work is truelly outstanding. I was such an thoroughly remarkable human beeing in and out of the ring...I have such a great respect for him, he was a true patriot (93 boxing exhibitions during WW II). What affects me the most is that because of money problems he died in appalling conditions. He marked the history of boxing from his indelible imprint. RIP in Arlington National Cemetery champion.

    RIP champion.

  • Best heavyweight ever.

  • He was a natural puncher, no doubt!
