@Dossy600 having a moan? we were protesting the raise in our fees! now most of us have to take out loans just to get an education and some people cant afford college at all! say what you want but now since its past your kids will have to pay over 2500euro each just to go to college! if ignorance is bliss then you must be Buddha!
The Gardai were completely wrong. How on earth can people support them? A minority provoked them, the rest sat down and were beaten with batons and riot shields? Nice to see the Gardai doing there job you know, beating innocents unconscious? At least they manage to put bondholders and the real people guilty of ruining this country to justice.. Oh wait. The heavy handed approaches are obvious when the riot squad blatantly charges the crowd! Students are completely right to protest!
Wake up!!!!!...The police reacted properly. Students sitting down on the road, causing public disorder, throwing planks of wood, bottles and acid at the police. It's called "Public Disorder". Police have the right to restore order. And I DO NOT see any heavy handed approaches, as relayed by the journalist. In the States we would have tear-gased them and used water cannon. Wake up to reality people!!!
@looneyirish007 If you think I'm gonna pay 5000 euro for my education next year you must be having a laugh, we're just standing up for our right to education i'll be there next week 16th November!
no matter if the guards are caught on camera doing anything wrong they still get away with it if that was a normal hard working person they would be in jail 1 rule for them and another for us the ombudsman is as bad they will tell you that your a liar but in a nice way
0.40 'Here the riot squad charges student protesters with no APPARENT provocation'.
1.20 'This girl is carried out by Gardai APPARENTLY unconscious'
Would the state broadcaster have said those same words if it was a Garda getting attacked by big men wearing helmets and masks wielding large shields and dangerous batons. I think not.
This is a nice glimpse for the Irish people to see why *police* really exist. I hope you all enjoyed the Queens visit...
The Gardai did a great job that day, the abuse and the violence that was thrown at them was just wrong. When Gardai then stand up to these idiots they bitch and moan. However I just wanna say that not all the students were causing problems, but saying that the Gardai have the right to use force.
@222damien A minority of people were causing touble. I agree those causing trouble should have been removed. Instead the Garda went for everyone and anyone no matter how innocent they were. Say what you want but if you were a mother or father and your child came home from a peaceful protest battered and bruised by the Garda who are supposed to protect then I would imagine your oppinion would be very different than the one you have now!
@jcbjoe You fully support the beating of unarmed students sitting on the ground by Garda Siochana? Some students did get out of hand and that was wrong but the fact is there suppose to maintain peace and there was nothing peaceful about their actions. It's power mad Garda again thinking they can do what they like. Keepers of the peace yeah right....
I can honestly say that about 90% of all gardai are ignorant uneducated boggers on a power trip who constantly crack down on the people least likely to put up a fight.
spineless rte pricks only showed this after it was discussed on 98fm and got shit loads on views on youtube. i suppose they asked dermot ahern for permission to show this clip.
@The22clowns I concur! You would wonder who pulls the strings in RTE. Their coverage of these type of events always seems a little "edited". Thank god for Youtube!
just shows you what the state will do to hold on to power.
there will be mass emigration again.
when will the irish people stop voting for the same two main parties?
when the youth move abroad for work they will no doubt get pissed and sing songs about the "ol sod".the bankers get richer and the truth is the elected government and people allowed it to happen.
I'm currently studying security studies in college to prepare myself for the Garda and I have to say things like this make me feel like dropping out. I can't believe they would do this to peaceful protestors it's horrible and something needs to be done and first thing is to get a new government that actually earns as much as we do which is the reason why were in recession
sad day for civil rights in Ireland when the Gardai with faces covered attack and beat Young girls on the streets of the Capital City of the Republic ! very sad indeed I feel shame !
im delighted there upping the fee's as a recent graduate it might encourage students to actually attend there lectures

Gardai behaviour and tactics make the PSNI look like the Salvation Army.
Maybe Eirgi would be better served protesting outside Gardi Headquarters.
