I know this song by heart. There's very few songs that I don't mess up when I sing them, but this is one. A testament to genius and real heart. Love you, Stuart. RIP.
why do so many great musicians have to die, they only try to bring light to our lives ,do they just feel too much, what is it,what is wrong with the world, another brilliant soul lost.
I am an African American male from North carolina. I heard this album on a whim and to this day, it is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard. I too wish Stuart had had someone to help him through his pain.
no band even comes close to Big Country and the fact they didn't get the recognition they deserved makes it much more of a privilege to have experience the phenomenom that was and always will be Big Country as the big man would say STAY ALIVE
I feel so lucky, i saw Big Country sing this live! a few times at The Leeds Town and County Club, it was always a celebration! how i miss those times!
I only wish that there was someone,..a family member,a friend......even a fan,to pull him back into the light from his darkest moment alone. The big mon was soooo talented, the guy's a legend, but could've been even bigger!
RIP Stuart on what would have been your 50th Bithday (April 11th).
Stuart was one of the most underated singer/songwriter guitarists ever.Everyone who has heard his music should feel very lucky he was that good.Always had such beautiful melodies in his songs.Thankyou stuart adamson.
i don't see why people say that the steeltown was not as good i don't think you can compare both the crossing and steeltown there both really good this is the best band ever
What a fantastic band..what a fantastic talent. My 1st ever concert was Big Country in Belfast..magical...unforgettable..just like Stuart Adamson. How sad he's now only gigging in The Sky.
stuart adamson you were the best.......i'm in new york now but this reminds me of being 12 years old in glasgow listening late at night on my headphones before going to bed r.i.p. you never should have gone.p.l
Such a sad beautiful song. It's supposed to be sung from the point of a view of a young woman whose boyfriend has just been killed in the Falklands War while she watches another soldier return to her village and get given a heroe's welcome . Heartbreaking stuff.
i first heard big country when i was 12 years old , back in 83,living in scotland , big country became the music for a generation not just of scots but from around the world, r.i.p stuart.
How does a man who wrote a song like this kill himself? He should have known the pain his family would feel. Did he really think they were better off without him?! I don't understand depression. Stuart, I wish you'd come back to us.
Yes, brilliant. I never liked this band back in the 80's when I was a teenager. I guess I just needed to grow up to learn what great music is.

How many songs send a genuine shiver right up the spine? Well this one does, I can't believe it was written by a guy only in his mid twenties.
Desperately sad yet brilliant.
