  • one thing though, this is mismarked for the tune "How High The Moon" never occurs until 4:26, thats not what great jazz artist do to a melody........

  • Very beautiful. The start reminds me of Oscar. He liked this kind of octave lines with separate hands.

  • Wow amazing well done

  • I could listen to this day and night... smooth, precise, jazz.. thanks for doing this!

  • PLEASE! TUTORIAL!!! =D =D =D =D

  • Wonderful!!!

  • left hand is quite fast! =) ;D

    great ;D

  • Like to hear you on a real piano though. Boy.

  • Outstanding! simple incredible, don't have any more words to describe

  • Wow ! What an incredible musician you are. Very intelligent in your approach and very tasty. You should try Logic Pro 8 instead of Garage Band. You will not believe the difference. It is like comparing IPhoto and Photoshop.

  • Wthat kind of Piano is this?

  • @cipijazzer

    Yamaha CP 300

  • Great! Love it!

  • It would be nice if everyone in the world could play like you

  • I really like the interpretation you have made of this beautiful melody.

You are one of the best jazz pianist I have ever listened to.

    Congratulations from Spain!!!

  • Really awsome as usual! This would be a great place where u could talk about ur recording set-up. Obviously u recorded the sound on ur laptop. What laptop do u preffer to use for this kind of recording? What type of system or software do u employ typically in these recordings and how did u tie everything together via video cam - keyboard, laptop? Give us some tech talk here 7note. Thanks

  • Absolutely beautiful and celestial, I just went to download this, haha. Your playing sometimes inspires me to write romantic novels. ^_^ Continue to play this nice jazzy tunes for us! =)

  • great musicianship, so well balanced...love the fact that producing a nice sound is your first priority, and that you don't show off in any way, when you could easily do it.. very wise playing! :))

  • Thanks, karolosm.

  • kool man, def got chops

  • nice variation of sound and great interplay between the hands.

    fab

    thanks

  • The intro sounds great. You are a great piano player!

  • Wow. Your left hand, like Oscar Peterson, has inspired my left hand to start practicing again!

Especially the dialogue between right and left - would you have any suggestions (please do) how I could practice both my hands together?

    Thanks, loving your music

  • Thanks clementleung17. The best way to build the left hand is to practice playing the head and improvising with the left hand while comping with the right hand. Think of playing solo's that sound like a trombone or baritone sax. A slow tempo is fine to start out with.

  • You get a wonderful relaxed feel on this tune. Lovely

  • ORGASMIC,,,, 5*****

    ECCEZIONALE

  • Wow - you are too good :)

  • Was on the mellow side, and sometimes I lost track of the melody, but superb chords, This song was really swinging withElla singin' it in ROME,

  • Superb work as always.

    -Klav

  • Wonderfully played, pure pianism. Exquisite !!

  • Yes ! (Making it impossible for me to sing along ;-)

    Happy Holidays, Wolf

  • great as always :) thanks for inspiration :)

  • incrível , isso é extremamente difícil, eu sei do que estou falando. Deus lhe abençoe hoje e sempre.

  • Obrigado!

  • Tom, I consider you (and Doug--I hope you see this too Doug) to be amongst the greatest jazz/pop (whatever you want to name it--how about simply "pianists"?) I have ever heard -- and I've heard them all and I know what I'm talking about. Not only is your piano playing brilliant, but your musical intelligence is on the highest order known to man. Bill Evans has nothing on you. If you (and Doug) aren't travelling the world as soloists, then something is wrong. Ican't get enoughof your playing.

  • Thanks EnormousBFFan, for one of the nicest compliments ever!

  • CLASSY! Pure CLASS! Ella Fitzgerald quality.....congratulations!

  • It was my upbringing :-D

  • That keyboard sounds awesome.

  • Mastery of so many solo piano styles Tom! We are all envious! As usual a great job with so many changes of approach.

  • Thanks, Doug. Coming from you, that means alot!

  • loved it (in two words!).

  • How nice the tune. Thank you.

  • givitup, givitup, givitup!

  • Thx TJ.

  • Bravo!

  • This is the first jazz tune I learned with Ron Silver..what a great arrangement 7note! I'm gonna re-visit the old lead sheet now...

  • G'day 7notemode,

Very nice to see left hand finger mobility, in your accompaniment to the r/h. !

I like to see the l/h., do some unison and interval accompaniment, as well as chordal.

I've been a subscriber for quite a while now, and when I want our pianist to try some new approach, I can usually find an instance on your site, and say: look mate, something like this!

    Keep up the great work!

    All the Best,

    S'later,

    Boyd.

  • G'day Boyd! and Thanks.

  • Chilled out. Thanks for the helpful view from above.

  • Amazing!!! Love this angle as well. Good capture of the crazy licks!

I also have a question: I'm a guitarist with some strong knowledge in theory and improvisiation. I jam all the time and solo over chord changes without sounding like some metalhead who wants to solo more. That being said, I know how basic jazz playing works, but I really want to carry this talent into my keyboard playing. I just ordered The Jazz Piano and Jazz Theory books by Levine, think they'll help at all?

  • very very nice

    5*

  • just out of curiosity, why have you record your solos on an keyboard recently? The sound is great, but nothing really compares or sounds like an acoustic, especially when it comes to playing solo piano.

  • The piano is out of tune because of weather changes. Soon to be corrected.

  • @ donotclickonthis, try the "akuostic piano" software from Native Instruments, I bet you change your mind! Better than the acoustic version ;-D

  • I don't think no matter what the quality of the software it still really is no comparison to any acoustic grand.
