I'm actually *less* surprised that no one knew at all, because in my experience, there's very little crossover between J-pop and anime fans. Anime fans may have a few favorite OP and ED themes, but they couldn't care less about the artists or idols who perform them. Just look at the difference in fans of "Shugo Chara" and Buono!

Yeah, she was in Coconuts Musume along with Mika Todd, Lehua Sandbo and Danielle Delauney. They're all from Hawaii except for Ayaka, who is from Japan but spent most her teenage years in Hawaii so she knows English.

Morning Musume changes a lot, but they've had between 5 (at the start) and 15 members, but usually around 10-12. Currently there are 9.
