The Drexler type nanoassemblers are not really practical given the way nature works at the molecular scale and the idea that you could independently control billions of them concurrently is pure fantasy at this point.
On the other hand, sensors that could work inside cells and "nanorobots" that can detect and cure disease at subcellular levels will be on the market in 10 years.
Simply put, once nanotechnology is perfected (and it will be in the next 50 years) the worlds will be changed forever. It will be one of those rare moments in history were everything is changed forever.
You can detect prostate cancer on an early stage nowadays as well with PSA (as far as i know) and u dnt need nanotechnologies for that and its cheaper..... As for other usage it sounds intresting and really hope giving for all the other diseases.

Nanotechnology at the moment is like the invention of the transistor in the 1960's.
Its still in its infancy.
Currently nanotech is used in the air bag sensor chips in cars and video projectors in theatres.

no conclusive evidence that this is true. There isn't even conclusive evidence that smoking is the cause. Since it is not 100% true, smoking may be a "trigger", but as far as a cause, the conclusion is not concrete. That is why the Surgeon General warning says "Smoking MAY cause cancer..."
