  • osunyemi, you did a great job. These craftsmen are awesome. I like the conversation here.oluwalogbon is right!!!.A prophet has no respect in his country like JESUS said. Blacksmithing and iron work is big in the west we all know. I will appeal to middlemen to deal fairly with this folks.Handcrafting is going thru difficult times all over the world. But I will like to buy some object from this folks. The interpreter is a goodman. He tries to get the best deal for the tourist. Cool vid.

  • the gate is beautiful , its just such a pity that traditional artists dont have the same value at home as foreign bought products do out there.. they prize mdf against iroko wood would you believe?

  • We are trying to promote the local artists....big job, need lots of help!!

  • the problem is that our own people at home have a love for foriengn goods no matter how tacky they are...local products dont get the recognition they should do..Everybody wants stuff from LONDON OR ROME.. or THE USA... no matter how shoddy and second rate.. i used to have big arguements on this same topic back home , imagine i once bought a black dolly for my daughter and when we went home on a visit local kids were scared of it as they are so used to white dollies.. it is changing of course .

  • African Americans and black people throughout the world have gone through centuries of brainwashing to hate our own image. So that is why i do what i do. tell the truth of our culture through documentaries. Promote the indigenous artists so they do not have to prostitute their sacred art. Serve as a place where people can have intelligent conversations and take action to save our culture.

  • you can see so many of these beautiful gates all over nigeria in the beautiful buildings in diiferent cities everwhere . we have skilled craftsmen and women who do not have an outlet of for their products and its a shame that outsiders have to come in to appreciate this stuff.. you tend to find nigerian crafts in the homes of foriegners working and living in nigeria than home people..

  • Thank you Iya. This document is so wonderful...

  • i am proud

  • thank you. we love these folks who have made us feel like family.
