Anyway - the point I'm making is... until the song at the end, I didn't even notice that you were black. I know... sounds weird, but that's the kind of world I wish to live in... where people don't care about skin color... age... sex... wealth or power. A society where your social ranking is based upon how you think.

It's all very fine to point out that she is an atheist, but that doesn't change the fact that atheists as a group tend to, politically, be aligned more to the left, and a significant part of those (atheists) who know who she is dislike her, so that it is jarring to see her in a list of people who are being exalted as fine examples of atheists.

If you don't feel that way, that's your right, but don't bash others for thinking (and pointing out) that she is pernicious.

a lot of uninformed ppl think that atheism is a form of religiosity or a belief system

which it is not; it is just pure and simple not believing in any of the myths existing

and actually every believer is an atheist to all other religions except his own

no Christian will have sleepless night bcs allah or a muslim is an ehteist against the hindu religion

@wilie123 it's such a simple concept isn't it, but for whatever reason they can't understand it :-/ the majority of Christians I have met seem to think that Yahweh is the only god to have ever 'existed' and forget about the thousands of other 'dead' gods. I even tell them that Muslims, Jews and Christians technically believe in the same god, but they often take extreme offense to that! Even a catholic would disagree with a mormon even though it's the same frickin' god!!

Not only have studies shown atheists have higher IQ's but studies have also shown that atheists actually know more about religion then the brain washed religious masses that actually believe in them.

I think it might be important to include why more intelligent people are more likely to believe certain things. It is not because believing scientists makes you smarter, but rather that if you are smart enough to understand what they say, then it makes sense to you. And if you are that intelligent you are also smart enough to work out that what the preachers are saying is mostly bullshit.

@TheWolf2123 As a rational human being, I find that I can only be skeptical of actual claims. My atheism is simply the rejection of every claim for any kind of god that I've ever encountered. I make no claims about what god is so how could someone be a "rational skeptic" of my atheism. They can be a skeptic toward other tangible aspects of what I've come to understand about reality, but in truth my atheism is a very small part of that. The skeptic in me is probably the biggest part.

I agree that atheists are likely the most intelligent and least violent people, but it is a bold claim that needs to be supported with evidence. It's something any rational skeptic would want proof of.

I was initially turned off by the "most intelligent" line also, in fact when I was about to include that last bit as a tag-line when I shared it on my Facebook page I very nearly omitted it, and wrote "most educated" instead. But when I thought about it I had the same conclusion; who cares! PhD's are more likely to be atheists than any other education level, the National Academy of Sciences is at around 97% atheist, and so on...I think I am quite alright with that phrasing after all.

let's just be real. anyone who uses logic and reason MUST realize they are atheist. If not, that's cool, but they must know they have abandoned logic and reason.

@JBeezie428 From my own experience, I have to agree with you. For many years I was an atheist because it was the rational thing to do. In the past few years I have turned to a more spiritual point of view, but I don't flatter myself that it has anything to do with logic or reason.
