He wasn't in the Senate when the vote was called. When we was running for the Senate, he opposed the war publicly. The only reason he's voting for funding is because we can't withdraw immediately - it needs to be gradual. Taking funding away would eliminate that.

Anyway, the ONLY problem i have with Barack Obama, is his lack of washington experience, and that might not even be a problem. After all, when you look at the shambles some 'experienced' washington Presidents have gotten into over the years... well anyway, i'm not American, but if i were Obama would get my vote ;).
What about Obama supporting the Patriot act and not taking Nuclear options off the table with Iran. He also does not have non-profit health care, probably because he takes money from the insurance companies.
I don't claim to know a huge amount about this, i am a politics student in the UK, and i'm covering the Invisible Primary for my Coursework. I still have a lot of research to do, but from what i have seen Obama is in my opinion the best candidate with a real chance. Kucinich ... his campaign seems to be more of a political stand, which i admire. Don't yell at me if i'm talking rubbish, i know more about this than about 8/10 of the population of my college, but i'm not an expert.
People keep talking about Obama's "lack of experience", but Abraham Lincoln had been an Illinois state Senator and spent a term as US Senator for Illiois before he ran for President. He is now considered one of the greatest Presidents in history. Not that Obama will live up to Lincoln's standard (that's too high a bar) but "experience" isn't really essential to be a good President. The times, and how he responds to them, are what will ultimately make the man.
Ron Paul sounds great but is absolutely unrealistic. If the government made the cuts that he would like to make then our country would fall apart. Also, do you really believe that congress would approve of anything Ron Paul tried to do? We would enter to another four to eight years of no progress because the president and congress would not agree on anything. However, we all know we need a candidate to cut some spending to make up for Iraq. Best way to do this? LEAVE.
It's been done before and the President who did it is now on the $20 bill.

He wasn't in the Senate when the vote was called. When we was running for the Senate, he opposed the war publicly. The only reason he's voting for funding is because we can't withdraw immediately - it needs to be gradual. Taking funding away would eliminate that.

I don't claim to know a huge amount about this, i am a politics student in the UK, and i'm covering the Invisible Primary for my Coursework. I still have a lot of research to do, but from what i have seen Obama is in my opinion the best candidate with a real chance. Kucinich ... his campaign seems to be more of a political stand, which i admire. People keep talking about Obama's "lack of experience", but Abraham Lincoln had been an Illinois state Senator and spent a term as US Senator for Illiois before he ran for President. He is now considered one of the greatest Presidents in history. Not that Obama will live up to Lincoln's standard (that's too high a bar) but "experience" isn't really essential to be a good President. Ron Paul sounds great but is absolutely unrealistic. If the government made the cuts that he would like to make then our country would fall apart. Also, do you really believe that congress would approve of anything Ron Paul tried to do? We would enter to another four to eight years of no progress because the president and congress would not agree on anything. However, we all know we need a candidate to cut some spending to make up for Iraq. Best way to do this? LEAVE.
