ohhh we used to do a line dance to this...turn, lift your knee and clap underneath, turn and hit your ankle from behind...I too was 13 when this came out...
This song will forever be linked to Jack and Victor from the brilliant Still Game just as Ghost Town by The Specials will forever be linked to Father Ted!
Wow,......I remember this song back in the day,...This Song - Beautiful Sunday - By Daniel Boone peaked at # 16 on 09-16-1972 on the Billboard Hot Pop Singles Chart
My dad used to have this song in his Cassette and i used to listen to it when i was a kid.....now ive listened to it after a long time......Amazing song
i heard this song for the first time on car radio while going home from work tired and it was raining but the song made me happy and since than i love this song
I heard this song today on Sirius radio. I'm an acoustic musician with an ear out for great songs that aren't heard much these days. The last time i heard this i was around 12 or 13. What a great flashback. Thanks for posting this tune and helping to keep it alive.
this song brings a ( happy ) tear to my eye ,my dad always sang it ,,and i have him singing it on the last video of him before he passed ,,..he loved to sing and this was one of his favourites ..xxx
1972, I was 13, and this is when I really started to get into music- I had a group of friends that were like 3 years older than me, and the summer of '72 was spent driving around Madison Wisconsin listening to Mouth and McNeil and all these other bands and great pop songs on 1240 AM, WISM. No worries, no problems, just fun. Oh for a return to those days...
@MadCityMac13 I was 12, how my story is just like yours, in Memphis, Tn. That was the summer my mom got a new Cutlass Supreme. I had friends that could drive, and we rode around and life seemed so much easier, I had 5 yards I took care of for spending money. I would love those days again myself. That Rocket 350 4 barrel was smoke those tires. I love cars and hope to have a few classic cars after kids are done with college. Oldsmobile " ALWAYS A STEP AHEAD" There slogan for a few years...
@MadCityMac13 I hear ya... I was 15 and really liked Daniel Boone....I love Mouth and McNeil, Captain and Tenille, and all the groups from the 70's.... I was in tenth grade then and let me tell you, those were the best years I ever had... we had fun, we had good music and we had great friends.....I'm with you for sure... wish I could re live those days! :)
@MadCityMac13 hey but just be glad you got to see it, I'm 20 years old right now, i seen nothing but the bullshit end of the 90's and well, this new shit.. World is completely fucked up with no chance of EVER returning to the way it was.. All we got is the tunes..
This song is so awesome that they named a high school after him in honor of "Beautiful Sunday". It's in Birdsboro, Pa which is in Berks County. Look it up. This song really hits the spot. Come back Daniel Boone to please us with "Specatular Thursday".
The 70s...boy oh boy life was awesome...no hassle no worries..fun all the way...thank you God all the wonderful thing in life..for example..nice nice songs..have a happy SUnday to everyone in this whole wide world, amen.
This is one of those songs that will just live on forever...it not only makes ya happy but makes ya wanna dance too...loved the 70's (i was a teenage back then :D)
I remember this song from the guitar line....Came out the year i was born. It's.funny how you can just remember songs from a hook. The 70's had some of the greatest music ever....
Along with easy going songs like this, "Beautiful Sunday", the 70's also ushered in southern rock, heavy metal, Disco, rap and more. In retrospect, I guess a lot was happening with the evolution of music in the 70s. Personally, I miss the early mellow 70's and long for the 60's.
This song makes me so happy... ;o) I wish i had a hippie dress and dance like crazy There is not a day that goes by that I wish someone a happy day. I have two little granddaughters and they love it when we just dance together. They too make me happy. PEACE
I just wanted to thankyou for this video.I posted it on my FaceBook page this morning and got a lot of happy replies from people drifting back into memory land.Thanks.
A great song we would have on the old "transittor radio" as we played ball on a perfect spring day at the park, drinking a cold pop and laughing at each other on our poor playing efforts. Many of my closest friends then are gone now..... Whatever the political climate was at that time songs like this are forever in my soul... They actually made us FORGET about all the world's problems then and enjoy our youth.
The 70's suffered hang-over from the 60's... Kennedy and King already dead... Hendrix, Mama Cass, Jim Morrison died.. soon Croce.... and more... heavy metal rose from the ashes of the Beatles.. Glam Rockers dancing what was left to bits... the colorful mosaic of party-till -you-drop, giving VietNam back to the Vietnamese, Nixon resigns in disgrace.. a lot of people got rich/poor, the decade ends in Iran prison for Marines ... Reagan soon to declare its Morning in America ...
Things sure were simpler then. I had a similar growing up experience. My dad worked for the same company for over 35 years. My mom stayed home. Us kids could run riot through the neighbourhood til late without fear of kidnapping etc. We didn't need the multi scheduled activities that kids have today nor did we have the technology. I remeber getting our first colour tv in 1976 for the montreal olympics and the pocket calculator being advanced technology. Wow, have things changed!
I liked this song very much and I sang it often. Because those were the days when I first dated a girl and had lovely moments with her for a while....
This was a sarcastic song about not being able to buy alcohol in the Bible Belt on Sunday. Budweiser used this song back in the early 80's much to the shagrin of local nere'-do-wells.
Wherever did you find this song? It's in amazing condition. I would have been prepared to accept a scratchy 45-rpm disc. '72 was the year I went to my first baseball game, when I was 9. I heard this song on an AM radio that still had tubes in it, and you didn't dare open the top of it, for fear of getting burnt. On Sundays one of my sisters would let me listen to American Top 40 on her FM radio when this song was big, along with "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog," and maybe Bad Bad LeRoy Brown."

I too had a nostalgia of listening to this piece
in 70's when I was in teens. This is the first time i came to know the
singer. A beautiful control over the tones clearly
representing the morning dews on foliage
the smile of the friends the morning fresh ness.
