Hi Mike,

Since I dont work in Sony I will give you the cons as well.

This film was taken with the default settings.

Pros: The camcorder has great images in day time (both indoor and outside). Maybe great is understatement the best quality I have seen. You connect it via hdmi to the hi def TV and it is amazing. 10times better than what you just saw in YouTube.

Cons:

• It is big camcorder. 13x5x6 inches.

• It has surprisingly very poor stills images.

• At dusk to night time with low light very poor performance. I couldnt find setting which makes it better (in the 60min time I gave it).

• It uses mini DV. One can argue that it is also a plus because it gives you immediate backup. But, my other two Sony cameras died because of the mini divi system (after 3 and 6 years).

There are zillions of options in the settings so the cons might improve if you are an expert.
