  • could you do something on a tape stop effect? i cant figure it out in fl 8

  • i like it great tutorial

  • Thank you NFX, your tutorials are some of the best around for the those who are just getting into fruity loops but are not new to music production. Sometimes ill just watch these 5 to 6 times a week so they soak in. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, by doing so you are opeing doors for others to create great music for us all to enjoy ( we all gotta start somewhere!) Maybe someday those who have your used your tutuorials will create other tutuorials and the pattern will keep going!

  • very helpful :)

  • very helpful :)

  • this is especially good for making basslines, it's an instinctive ritual i have now as soon as i add a bass tone to the step sequencer, turn the attack all the way down (at least at first) and the release almost all the way down, change the main filter to SVF LPx2

i used FL for like 3 years before i even paid any attention to the ADSR envelope... nowadays i consider it to be one of the most important parts of the program.

  • you talk too much. this vid does not need to be 17 minutes.

  • Thanks I needed this bro

  • but we can do all this with time stretching also,so what's the need of this?

  • you make seems so easy. good tutorial.

    Peace

  • Hello Warbeats, i have a question about using a synth in the "background" of the song. I can´t figure out how to start off with a low Hz (or low sound) effecting only the synth that is playing. A example is in the first 30 sec of the song -------Blake- Hanging on( were the sawwy starts off low and builds up at a higher tone). Please help, im sure its a simple click somewere in this program.

  • Use a a filter and an automation

  • to make samples play as long as you hit a note, you also just could open up the ''crf'' knob just a little bit. it's in the smp tab.

but you don't have acces to attack or release. it's just a faster and easier but less improved way to do it.

  • 234934fuck3249off

  • lol

  • hay warbaeatz cheers for a;; the vids !!! can u please tell me how to punch in and out when recording live cheers jhi

  • Wtf? The beginning of this is so wrong. The rest is great.

I expect I'll be rated down by fanboys for saying this but it's the truth no matter how you spin it:

Controlling the playback of a long sample through envelopes = BIG WTF.

You use LOOP POINTS for that (to set the start and end points of a sample).

The envelope is for adjusting the VOLUME pattern for the sample. The LOOP POINTS are for EDITING the sample.

What you're doing by using the envelope is removing the envelopes real utility.

  • I beg to differ, editing a sample is completly different than loop points. You would use edison for that.

Loop points are used when you want to loop or repeat a sample, hence the name LOOP.

ADSR is an envelope and as demonstrated can be used to make a sample play for a certain amount of time and fade.

  • I was speaking about the start and end points of the sample, which is how you adjust... the start and end points of your sample. ;-)

You thought I was talking about the loop "hold" positions (which is what gets repeated as long as the note is held down), I'm sorry for the confusion.

    The correct procedure is still:

Set the start and end points of the sample (which you incorrectly used an envelope for), THEN use the envelope to create the volume ramp to get anything from a lead to a pad.

  • As you probably know, FLStudio's Sampler (that you use in this video) is extremely basic. It lacks the ability to set the start and end points. So if you want to use that sampler, the correct process is:

    - Right click the sample waveform in the Sampler, hit Edit.

    - Select the piece of the waveform you want in Edison.

    - Press Ctrl+Del to trim.

    - Save to a new file.

    - Open the new sample in the Sampler.

    - NOW you use the Envelope, for its actual purpose: Creating the VOLUME ramp you want.

  • @nfxbeats Great Video! This is definitely NOT wrong nfxbeats knows what he's talking about

  • @regularmagnolia what i think ideally he is trying to be able to make a sample set sound smooth with help of the envelopes. If not, thats what i got out of it > : D

  • i just torrented it...got mine for free.

  • lol

  • torrented it? lmfao! xD you mean downloaded it by torrent?

  • lol 12:51

    A) Your mic skooted

    B) Your ass tooted.

    hahahaha

  • What was that? AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA

  • AJAJAJAJAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

  • dude, you dont even know how long i have been looking for this tut. 5 n fav

  • is there a way i can play a sample or a loop of a song and single out one part of it? For ex. if i want to get just the vocals or just the drums from the track. if there is can you post a tutorial of it pls?

  • the best thing to do for that kind of thing is to search for acapellas (tracks minus backing) via google. It might take a bit of work, and most of them will be in mp3 format (which fruityloops wan't take) so a good idea is to also get an audio converter program. It is much easier to do that than other ways. Good luck! Let me hear your stuff when you're done!

  • did he fart? xD

  • @SunTouches loool he even stoped talking to get that out ; )))

  • Did someone else see it flying or when did they truly come home from school??

  • Thank you so much. You`re just brilliant.

  • Hey Nice tutorials man, helped me out alot....Keep up the good work!!!!

  • Your tutorials are excellent!!!!!!!!!

  • thanx 4 tha tutorial

  • Great explanation of a fairly difficult topic.

  • Just wanted to drop by and tell you this is great, i'm new to Fruity Loops and you pretty much covered the envelopes for me, now tryin' to play around with it a bit.

    Thank you.

  • I really appreciate all your tutorials man. Thanks a million.

  • man you got some damn good tutorials i actually learn something from you,do ya damn thing man!!!!!!!

  • Oh shit, good stuff

  • fruity loops?

  • "Cut Itself" isn't as good as this method though because after the last note hit, the sample will play all the way through. Using the ADSR envelop, you have more control over what you want to be heard, and not just have to settle with the sample playing all the way through on its last note.

  • thanks man u roxorz

  • This really helps bcuz i always have that problem and have to change the melody

  • I learned a lot of cool things that I didn't know. When I use samples, I never have the problem of them overlapping like they did in your video. for everyone who doesn't know, there is a setting called "Cut Itself" and the sample will start over on every new note, It will still, however, play out the entire sample all the way through even after the song is stopped but you will not run into the overlapping horrors.

  • Thanks. I learned something new every time I see your tutorials.

  • Thanx NFX for this Brilliant tutorial!!! Now I got really Better with my Sampled beatz!!

  • Whats the difference between doing what you did and using "Cut itself"?

  • "Cut itself" stops the previous sample when you trigger it again. It will will not stop the sample when you let up on your key or draw a small time in the piano roll. I don't know if that explains it well enough so I suggest you get a long sample and try it yourself to see the difference.

  • make i couldn't thank you enough!! now all dem samples i surpassed are comin to life lol. i appreciate dis tutorial.

  • thank you very much. learned a lot from this.

  • I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MAN! KEEP EM COMMIN

  • I DONT LIKE YOU LOL

  • nice shit dude. Its a shame it took me a month to find it.

  • this really helps man, good video m8

  • kool

  • this is a good one!!!! i got a lot out of it and should help me with my beats a lil more.
