there are two types of things that live on the host, one is a parasite: lives on the organism without the host benefiting ie. tapeworm etc.

OR you get something that lives on the host with the host benefiting from that living on it called a sybiosis, like lets say a clown fish, lives in an anemone and whilst it lives there it has shelter from bigger animals, but also keeps the anemone clean, therefore seperating different groups of parasites, its not a parasite, its a symbiosis
