  • GOOD JOB

  • Beautiful sung in any way.

  • beautiful thats all i can say

  • There are many great versions of this classic. Maev's is very good, but my favorites are Hayley Westenra, and Deana Durbin---yea Deana Durbin.

  • So Beautiful

  • They don't sing anything live...kind of disappointing.

  • Who's the main singer? I need to find more by specifically her, not just 'Celtic Woman'.

  • @EllenRebecca3 Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, she is not with Celtic Woman anymore.

  • Sounds exactly the same as " You raise me up" from what it was stolen. !!

  • @agora1955 Actually, "Danny Boy" was written in 1910 - before "You Raise Me Up", so it's more accurate to say "You Raise Me Up" was stolen from "Danny Boy". Originally both were set to the Irish tune "Londonderry Air".

  • @Openframer Excuse me but I thought I already replied to this mail that I

am aware of this.Or perhaps it was lost. But of course it was stolen from

the " Londonderry Air" Absolutely, and still we have to ask ourselves if it

was good to do that in that we keep the music alive or if it is a crime ? I dont know

    what do you think ?

  • @agora1955 I am not the one who emailed you, so l was not aware that you received an email. Or were you assuming I was psychic? Wow... you really have to have a problem with this don't you? For your information, many songs throughout the years have been set to other tunes. It does not make it "stolen". I do not think it's a "crime". I just think it's a good excuse for people like you to complain about something.

  • i wonder if shes singing with a track because i do not see the choirs mic's.

  • I was mesmerized the whole song. But at 1:26 the sound made by the chorus and Maev made me burst into tears. I hear a lament of death and loss, breaks my heart.

  • I am Danny boy.. love it.

  • Comment removed

  • her voice is a true instrument. simply pure and beautiful. I remember I fell in love with this when it came out about four years ago. I still love it the same. So magical. She really has a voice of an angel

  • i remember wen i was 14 i fell in love with dis group now i am 18 and 4 years later i still love dem

  • oh god, at the first word i started crying

  • Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" has the same melody for its chorus as this traditional Irish folk song. Can't people write their own songs anymore?

  • I've never understood all the guys singing this. It's a woman's song and Meav owns it. Everyone else who sings it is just a poorer version.

  • This is the best version from Celtic Woman. She has much more expression in this one compared to A New Journey. Songs From the Heart is decent, but, for me, it's a solo, and Meav owns it.

  • Obrigada por postar nos seus favoritos. Mandei porque sabia que você ia gostar. É simplesmente maravilhoso! Beijos.

  • I have no words to describe how much this song moves me.

  • O my gosh... I think I just died of this beautifulness... ♥ It makes me think of my love, William... ♥ May he live long and prosper just as all else who watch this video. ♥

  • unearthly !! never heard such angel tune,

    From Cologne

  • this tune allways reminds me of family and friends I have lost, reminding me of the happy timeswe had but why do I cry?

  • Pure clear crystal voice, Beautiful

  • i miss Meav and Orla SO MUCH!!!

  • ...we have an arrangement of this tune for Drill Two of our marching show. and i LOVE it. been a fan of Celtic Woman since 6th grade

  • Im Irish and I must say this is bad ass!!! Fantastic!! Favorite song ever

  • not trying to take away from this beautiful music, but i hope you've listened to Deanna Durbin sing this:

  • @mccurryburg . I love them both. They are absolutely at the top. Although I think Sissel has the same level of talent.

  • Sung perfectly, but absolutely no feeling.

She could have been singing the menu from the local takeaway!

    Sorry folks, just my opinion.

  • @mikethefoto . Sure, you are entitled to your opinion. No feeling when she hits that high note at 1:05 or holds the last note for 11 sec. Just singing from a menu. Good luck to you.

  • @dlrunner

I kinda agree w/@mikethefoto. There are so many great singers that hit all the notes but

lack the connection to the material and hence the audience. Interpretation skills is what lacks

    in so many professional singers.

Those that have great singing skills along with an emotional connection to the material and understanding the difference between singing TO the audience versus singing FOR the audience are very rare.

  • @mikethefoto oh shut up!!

  • einfach nur genial

  • wunderschön / wonderfull

  • So lovely.

  • <3 Her dress!Her voice!Her! :)

  • She is my absolute favorite. She has the most beautiful voice.

  • It is heard not to believe in Spirit and heavenly bliss after hearing this song as performed by her and her chorus. This is a foretaste of that eternal bliss....

  • Pipes that would melt even the coldest of hearts! May thier music touch many they way it has me. God knew what he was doing when he gave these girls talent

    Aye Lass Quite beautiful

  • This is one of my favourite songs.

  • Sounds like You Raise Me Up. The melody, I mean.

  • @MusicIsMyLife8888 Impressive ear my dear. That's because You Raise Me Up was written using this melody. Sooo, you are right.

  • @Furriesaremine, No, "You Raise Me Up" and "Danny Boy" are different melodies. There may be a few minor similarities, but the differences are much greater.

  • Happy St Patrick's Day!

  • Musiccoloratura your right she owns Danny Boy!

  • i think i have to marry her thats the best and elvis a very close second

  • And they say the angels in heaven sound a hundred times like this. This alone is enough for me.

  • It feels like walking through the forest.

  • Hmm... i like the muppets version better.

  • All other versions of this song I hear will be measured against this incredible rendition by Meav. She OWNS this song to me now...

  • Thinking and missing my Son, John Jr.

  • The fairest of all Danny Boy presentations. Beautiful voice

  • her dress makes her look like a marmeid.. like her voice comes from the ocean..

  • Meav's version is simply exquisite and unparalled. The voices are the instruments.

  • Going to fast...

  • GAH! I need to stop listening to this song right before school! It ALWAYS screws up my makeup! X'D

  • Made me cry

  • La mejor interpretacion que he escuchado de Danny Boy...ME ENLOQUECE

  • These ladies have the voices of angels. Perfect way to unwind when things get strained in the real world.

  • That is definitely the best Version of this song that i have ever heard.

  • This song is special to me because its just Meav, and she is my favorite because we share the same name.

  • Ni Mhaolchatha has a unique dialect I can't describe.. ^^ but my favorite's still Chloe Agnew...

  • Amazing... that transition to the high note... so clear and beautiful.

  • In memory of my amazing grandpa, this was his favorite song, my mom sung it to him the night before he died, you could just see how at peace he was when she sang it.

  • She also does stunningly in her version in A New Journey and her solo album, Meav: A Celtic Journey.

And I want a dress like that one. ;D

  • i love listening to this music. i had to listen to this song for about an hour and never got tired of it. had to write the most sad part in my story and this helped alot! her voice brought tears to my eyes ever time. Simply the most beautiful song she has done!

  • Salty tears that travel from my eyes to my heart.

  • This is by far the best version of this song!

  • Such a sad song being sung by such a lovely woman. Perfect pitch and harmony.

No one can do it better although many have sung it beautifully, too.

  • When I write my stories I always listen to this music!

To this song I just wrote a passage, where the battle is over and the husband comes back to his farm, where he see's that his wife and daughter had been murdered by the orcs. He dicided to lead a small army of men to fight against these orcs.

    Just magnifique!

    Greetings from Germany!

  • I've never heard this sung as beautifully as this. And I suppose I never will.

  • wow

  • SOUNDS LIKE ANGELS SINGING TO ME

  • danny boy is lovely i love it !!!!!

  • what a powerful voice one of an angel...

  • nobody does this song better

  • Very well!

  • I love her dress! She looks like a mermaid! So beautiful!

  • Meav is performing with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall Friday March 12. I wish I could be there.

  • Ugh, Meav's voice is so angelic! Why did she and Orla leave!!!! I mean, I love Lynn and Alex, but I still really love Meav and Orla!

  • She has such a beautifull voice. Thank you for uploading (:

  • meav kicked this songs ass it is much better than the new version.

  • Whoa amazing. I got shivers when listening to it. Truly beautiful.

  • That song belongs to her. Her version of Danny Boy is the most beautiful on earth ! Her voice is so smooth and so lovely.

  • @musiccoloratura i agree with you! her voice is so soft and sweet in this. BUT the song would be nothing without the beautiful harmony provided by the also much talented chorus ^_^

  • Yes! Mammamia145. She actually does breathe!!

  • They don't need all the instrumnets! The voices are so exquisitely lovely accapella!

  • I think Méav sings this better than the "new CW group", you know, Cloe and Lisa with the two new girls. I don't like the new girls. I want Méav and Orla back!

  • Well, they WON'T come back. So get peace with yourself and try to give them a chance, Lynn and Alex are really good. But they're new and need to grow in their rolls, like Lisa, Maíréad and Chloë did over the years.

  • Dayum, them high notes are CHOICE. I wish the girls in our church choir could reach those.

  • I sang this at my friends funeral, it was his favorite song and me and him would sing it acapella for people. Still brings tears to my eyes

  • you can heaR HER BREATHING

  • A tear always comes when i listens to Danny Boy, and think about my love who "sleep in peace until (i) you come to (you) me"

    Kirsten, rest in peace.

  • This is so beautiful. She's not my fave of Celtic Woman, but her version of Danny Boy is beautiful. I've loved this song since I was a kid, and I still do! She did this song justice :D And this version is actually much better than (I think) the one she sang on the 'New Journey' tour.

  • beautiful. just beautiful.

  • make you wish life was so relaxing in tranquility as this songs comes across to viewers. Love the celtic singer. Funny how we have cross paths on this website, bonded together through this music.lol Romantic , slow dance with me!

  • i love her high notes. you know, the "here" and the "bend".

    outstanding head voice

  • wow excellent quality in the video, i love the celtic women! :)

  • This is one of my favourite songs.. and now I have a favourite singer! That was lovely.

  • Meav Ni Mhaolchatha does the finest and most beautiful rendition of Danny Boy I have ever heard. Her interpretation reaches down to the emotion that was originally placed in the old traditional song!

  • wow thats pretty

  • love it she sings it so well mkaes me proud to be british irish (a english man worte the song and it became a irish/northren irish song blessings of love and light

  • ur just jellous cuz u cant sing like thst

  • she looks so relaxed

  • shre does not lipsync u dope

  • is it me or does the chorus sound like you raise me up?

  • haha youre right :D

  • thats because it is based on this song

  • that is a really long note she holds at the end. wow.

  • Yeah, I always tried to hold it as long as she does, I finally did one day. Next day had a sore throat ;D

  • well, congrats on holding that note! sorry about the sore throat. i could never hit that high note AND hold it that long.

  • only the Irish can do this right. perfect.

  • I love it. :)

  • What A Great Song.

  • simply WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love her voice!

  • Excellent!!!

  • She has such wonderful technique! I wish I could sing like that... :)

  • I wish I could sing my intervals as perfect as she :)

  • Heh, so do I. ^_^ All of them display such wondrous control over their gift.

  • I am hypnotized.

    Everything about this is stunning.

I listen to it almost everyday :]

  • I have to say, this is beautifully done. :) Although, no one sings it quite like my grandfather, who past away a year ago...:( He did love this song so...

  • This song make me cry T^T Beautiful! Bravo Meav!!!!

  • She has a BEAUTIFUL voice

    Like an angels

  • omg people i didnt mean it in a bad way! i was just saying it wasnt my favorite!!! jeez

  • you should be careful next time... marcella... =D

  • people are really really really unforgiving sometimes ^_^

  • its quite pretty but definately not my favorite of all meavs/celticwoman's songs

  • marcellaandrews11: Which is your favorite Meave/Celtic Woman song? Hard to pick just one, I know. Which is your fav Meav song, then which is your fav Celtic women (as a group) song?

  • sunnyhappyday- My favorite Meav song would have to be 'She Moved Through the Fair' I guess... I like them all :)

As a group, of course I like all of them, but I guess I'd have to say Orinoco Flow and Somewhere Over the Rainbow... actually Spanish Lady I like a lot... I don't know! I love them all!!! But there's some to start off with...

    What about you???

  • i have to sing this song for my chorus concert and it's so beautiful

  • A gorgeous performance. Actually, I would prefer this if Meav had no backup. Her voice, however, triumphs over the background singers. As to her voice it is both gorgeous and haunting. Thanks lockore, I was searching for the right word and you gave it to me.

  • An haunting voice doing an amazing song. 5 stars.

  • This is the first time I've heard this song... I like it! This song suits Meav's voice perfectly...

  • I used to watch this on the DVD almost everyday, and sing it wherever I could

  • this is my favorite on on the CD! I love it! makes me cry ;(
