@agora1955 Actually, "Danny Boy" was written in 1910 - before "You Raise Me Up", so it's more accurate to say "You Raise Me Up" was stolen from "Danny Boy". Originally both were set to the Irish tune "Londonderry Air".
@agora1955 I am not the one who emailed you, so l was not aware that you received an email. Or were you assuming I was psychic? Wow... you really have to have a problem with this don't you? For your information, many songs throughout the years have been set to other tunes. It does not make it "stolen". I do not think it's a "crime". I just think it's a good excuse for people like you to complain about something.
I was mesmerized the whole song. But at 1:26 the sound made by the chorus and Maev made me burst into tears. I hear a lament of death and loss, breaks my heart.
if there can ever be a perfect way to interpret this song, this is it. There must be hundreds of recordings of this song out there, but this (or John McDermott's recording with the Cincinnati Pops) should be THE holotype.
her voice is a true instrument. simply pure and beautiful. I remember I fell in love with this when it came out about four years ago. I still love it the same. So magical. She really has a voice of an angel
This is the best version from Celtic Woman. She has much more expression in this one compared to A New Journey. Songs From the Heart is decent, but, for me, it's a solo, and Meav owns it.
O my gosh... I think I just died of this beautifulness... ♥ It makes me think of my love, William... ♥ May he live long and prosper just as all else who watch this video. ♥
@mikethefoto . Sure, you are entitled to your opinion. No feeling when she hits that high note at 1:05 or holds the last note for 11 sec. Just singing from a menu. Good luck to you.
I kinda agree w/@mikethefoto. There are so many great singers that hit all the notes but
lack the connection to the material and hence the audience. Interpretation skills is what lacks
in so many professional singers.
Those that have great singing skills along with an emotional connection to the material and understanding the difference between singing TO the audience versus singing FOR the audience are very rare.
It is heard not to believe in Spirit and heavenly bliss after hearing this song as performed by her and her chorus. This is a foretaste of that eternal bliss....
Pipes that would melt even the coldest of hearts! May thier music touch many they way it has me. God knew what he was doing when he gave these girls talent
@Furriesaremine, No, "You Raise Me Up" and "Danny Boy" are different melodies. There may be a few minor similarities, but the differences are much greater.
In memory of my amazing grandpa, this was his favorite song, my mom sung it to him the night before he died, you could just see how at peace he was when she sang it.
i love listening to this music. i had to listen to this song for about an hour and never got tired of it. had to write the most sad part in my story and this helped alot! her voice brought tears to my eyes ever time. Simply the most beautiful song she has done!
When I write my stories I always listen to this music!
To this song I just wrote a passage, where the battle is over and the husband comes back to his farm, where he see's that his wife and daughter had been murdered by the orcs. He dicided to lead a small army of men to fight against these orcs.
@musiccoloratura i agree with you! her voice is so soft and sweet in this. BUT the song would be nothing without the beautiful harmony provided by the also much talented chorus ^_^
I think Méav sings this better than the "new CW group", you know, Cloe and Lisa with the two new girls. I don't like the new girls. I want Méav and Orla back!
Well, they WON'T come back. So get peace with yourself and try to give them a chance, Lynn and Alex are really good. But they're new and need to grow in their rolls, like Lisa, Maíréad and Chloë did over the years.
This is so beautiful. She's not my fave of Celtic Woman, but her version of Danny Boy is beautiful. I've loved this song since I was a kid, and I still do! She did this song justice :D And this version is actually much better than (I think) the one she sang on the 'New Journey' tour.
make you wish life was so relaxing in tranquility as this songs comes across to viewers. Love the celtic singer. Funny how we have cross paths on this website, bonded together through this music.lol Romantic , slow dance with me!

marcellaandrews11: Which is your favorite Meave/Celtic Woman song? Hard to pick just one, I know. Which is your fav Meav song, then which is your fav Celtic women (as a group) song?
sunnyhappyday- My favorite Meav song would have to be 'She Moved Through the Fair' I guess... I like them all :)
As a group, of course I like all of them, but I guess I'd have to say Orinoco Flow and Somewhere Over the Rainbow... actually Spanish Lady I like a lot... I don't know! I love them all!!! But there's some to start off with...
A gorgeous performance. Actually, I would prefer this if Meav had no backup. Her voice, however, triumphs over the background singers. As to her voice it is both gorgeous and haunting. Thanks lockore, I was searching for the right word and you gave it to me.

@Openframer Excuse me but I thought I already replied to this mail that I
am aware of this.Or perhaps it was lost. But of course it was stolen from

was good to do that in that we keep the music alive or if it is a crime ? I dont know
what do you think ?
