I thought up my own nerdfighter lyrics and felt like sharing. They don't exactly fit with the nerdfighter song (don't even rhyme, I'm too nerdy to sound cool ;D), but they are lyrics foretelling my nerdiness, so here they are:
I used to love reading a lot, but then I got friends (I am not implying that reading isn't awesome or anything, i just found friends to be more fun). But then this summer my WHAP teacher assigned a book to read over the summer and I LOVED IT. So now I am going to buy all of John's books and hopefully revive my passion for reading.
@webmaster8040 Playing with friends was a new experience for me and i wanted to get as much as I could out of it and i didn't really want to make time for reading. I guess I thought it was going to run out. Anyway, I know now that there is plenty of time in the day for reading, and i will start doing that as soon as i get some books to read.
I'm watching all these in order for the FIRST time. It has taken me almost a month to get to this point and I'm in awe at all the stuff John and Hank and the Nerdfighters have already done. John, Hank-- you're my role models. Especially John. I want to write books. :D
I love reading and I've had an issue with people who think reading is dumb all my life. And then I came to college and took an English course where we had eight books to read and discuss over the semester. One day I'm walking behind some classmates who are complaining about having to read a chapter for homework.
... In college. I mean... WHAT DID THEY EXPECT? Did they expect to NOT read in COLLEGE? Even ART and MUSIC students READ in COLLEGE. I get you don't like it but not EXPECTING it?
While I do like short books, I prefer super long books. I like books that I can sink my teeth into and not still be hungry afterward. And relating books to food is creeptastic. Anywhoozles, I love reading. And if B2.0 was a person with all our combined experiences, B2.0 would hold the record for reading the most books in a 16 year span.
If this channel was a person with all of our combined experiences I don't think it would be reading. I think it would be RE-reading because together we have probably read every worthwhile book out there.
Actually, I have to disagree with you on this, Hank. While it's true that Brotherhood 2.0 hasn't read many books, or finished any books, it has read a full chapter of John's book Paper Towns before it was published, or even finished. It also read a chapter of your unnamed novel.
So, in this way, Brotherhood 2.0 does actually read books. It just appears to have a severe case of A.D.D. xD
the "kids" that like short books for the sole fact that they are short are not people that enjoy reading. I just read a 800+ page biography. and I liked it.
Does it bother you, Hank and John, that Brotherhood 2.0 will far outlive you both. Indeed, B20 is immortal. Thanks to Horace for his epigram on his own immortality, and to the many sonnetteers for there eternisations.
Brotherhood 2.0 is further helping the environment! I watch these videos instead of doing online driver's ed like my mom wants me to, so it's actually delaying the date when I get my driver's license. Because I plan to not have a car in college and possibly later, it's also shortening the time I will be using a car! Nerdfighter Ecogeeks!
Wow! I read the lathe of heaven in grade 11 as a novel study in english class. I think it is a great book! Go and read it everyone if you haven't already!!!!!!
lol, you forgot the word association, for some reason that makes me laugh.
Go teen read week, although I am normally not that huge a fan of young adult books, *looks around my room*, actually, over fifty percent of my books that I own are young adult, so just kidding
I read the Lathe of Heaven as part of university course - I probably wouldn't have picked it up otherwise - but I am glad that was on my set reading list. Normally I'm not a big sci-fi kind of person - I don't appreciate anything that segues into long rambling paragraphs that are entirely in science-speak (I'm an English lit nerdfighter) - but LoH was sort of sociological sci-fi, and really well written, and I really like it, and I think all nerdfighters should read it.
B20 could technically be a reader because you and John have both read in your video blogs; as well as promoted books that you were reading. Why not finish your book and read it to all of us.
@regularguy5mb I guess it depends on what you mean by reading. You mean books right? Because people read almost on a daily basis because of the internet.
How would you gather that? I believe that a person with one succesful relationship would add up to be a higher ranking person than a person with multiple failed relationships...
I'm a teen who volunteers a lot at the city library and i thank you so much for plugging teen read week! not a lot of teens come to our library, even though we just upgraded to a nice building, so we need all the publicity we can get. you're awesome!
and as a teen who reads... young adult stuff is mostly not as interesting to me as stuff written for older people (I read an abundance of katherines recently though, and it was pretty much made of awesome).
as a nearly-not-16-anymore-year-old I have to say that $30 a month would be pretty nice.
but may I also point out that 16 year olds need sleep. as evidenced by the fact that I did not sleep last night and was basically dead today. ...I might have to re-evaluate my place on team unicorn based on the fact that I am basically a zombie sometimes.
I'm still really shocked that Brotherhood 2.0 is older than me. (October 1th my 14th birthday). SIXTEEN YEARS. I just can't comprehend that people have spent more time watching Brotherhood 2.0... than I've spent BEING ALIVE. Yeah. Strange. Oh, well. Happy 16th birthday, Brotherhood. xD TEEN READ WEEK!-- Katie
Hank, are you a Librarian? Because I am, and I knew about Teen Read Week, and I doubt that people outside of the Library field would know that, just curious.
i just finished reading Into The Wild by John Krakauer which i finished in a day and a half because it was REALLY awesome! i recomend it...especially because Sean Penn has now made it into a movie!
I love short books!.....and picture books. when I realize that I just read a book without pictures, I'm generally sad...Then I turn to the wonderful world of Captain Underpants!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I just finished watching all the brotherhood 2.0 and now no longer can just bring up new videos whenever i want, but need to WAIT for new content.......but its worth it.
I used to loooooooove long books...until i was forced to read them in the space of three days...I consider myself a fast reader but the combination of the length and incredibly tiny font (which the Norton anthology prefers because it uses less paper) makes it incredibly laborious to read works such as Huckleberry finn...without making my eyes red, and very, very itchy.
The Lathe of Heaven eh? Its going on the to read list!
Happy B-day B20! Actually, it might have even aged up again. Sweet I'm celebrating Teen Read Week by reading!(<-- A lot of e's there)Right now I'm rereading Twilight so I can finally fin. the series (i read 178 pages last night lol). I'm still a teen right now so yay! Im 18 and almost a half so Im still good for this week. I wish it was pirate day again, I missed it this year. Oh well, hey Hank, your hair is growing out again, and where is the happy dance video?
I've only been watching Brotherhood 2.0 for a few months-_-, but if I had known about it I would have been watching much longer. When in doubt while remebering an acronym, if it ends in A it's usually association. I'm 16, and I prefer long books, I read short books too fast. Harry Potter Deathly Hallows was a good sized book; as was Extras by Scott Westerfeld which I just finished reading!! *happy dance* It was AWESOME!!!
I am only a teen for another year too (as someone said before me). Right now I'm engrossed in my Anatomy and Art History text books. I am also addicted (and have been for several years) to Rita Mae Brown (and Sneaky Pie Brown) mystery novels. I think that books-on-vlog is a cunning new idea, that will probably make no headway. Just a thought...
Us kids /looove/ short books. I'm only a teen for another year, but I still count right? Exactly. I'm currently reading two short books and a long book for fun... Wooh... every week is teen read week!
BTW Hank, nice hair. And the way you edit these videos is really awesome, you move around, it makes me laugh. =)
Plus I'm reading Wicked currently... @.@ And OMG it's such a scandalous book. Nothing like the musical. The whole first section is all about Elphaba's adulterous mother xD
i already read books when i was a teen...yes... i was not a popular person -___-;;
i STILL am not a popular person. But i know Napoleon's last name.... worlds most smartest model feh, should be called worlds most pretty dumb people. The only smart one cant model. but i'm off topic... yes.... READ BOOKS!!!
brotherhood 2.0 is older than me! hank is a flasher! and brotherhood 2.0 HAS read books... parts of books... may i remind y'all of 'papertowns' parts 1&2?
Okay, okay. I am the same age as Brotherhood2.0 . But it took me 16 years to become 16 years old. It only took 9 months for Brotherhood2.0 to become 16 years old. This is like that one episode of star trek enterprise. Except Brotherhood2.0 is not a clone of myself. And in the episode, the clone of (what's his face) became like 35 in one week.
By the way, I really don't like star trek. My dad and older sister do, though. And they made us watch it last night with dinner.
I just adore you guys!!! OMG I bought 'An Abundance of Kathrines' and John is the narrator in my head... Anyway...My birthday is Saturday and as a nerdfighter I would totally love a birthday shout out... but there is more... I am going to Disneyland with a camcorder and I am on a mission to find nerdfighters who reside in Southern California like me... So look out for that video, because I am going to up my status from Nerdfighter to Secret Sibling....
if it's a good book, like Harry Potter, I like it to be long so it lasts longer, like your song says Hank "I wish it didn't have to end at all" , but if it's a boring book, like The Collor Of Water, I like it to be short
short books are ok, but I love long books! The only ting I did't like about Katherines was that it was too short. But I read it slow, so at least it lasted longer. But even long books like harry potter are too short, I wish good books were longer.
I hate short books! One minute you're reading it and the next its over! I'm celebrating teen read week and I didn't even know it! (Has finished two books both more than 290 pages but less than 300)
Oh yeah, that was a shameless plug. But I agree that some ideas *cough*harrypotter*cough* doesn't need to be created as a video blog. How weird would that be. Oh well, let us keep world suck down and make sure B2.0 doesn't steal the car tonight.
how many 16 year olds have their own foundation to decrease world suck?

Hank, are you a Librarian? Because I am, and I knew about Teen Read Week, and I doubt that people outside of the Library field would know that, just curious.

i like long books, as long as they're interesting and don't lose focus of what the story is about
FushigiY 4 years ago
I used to loooooooove long books...until i was forced to read them in the space of three days...I consider myself a fast reader but the combination of the length and incredibly tiny font (which the Norton anthology prefers because it uses less paper) makes it incredibly laborious to read works such as Huckleberry finn...without making my eyes red, and very, very itchy.
The Lathe of Heaven eh? Its going on the to read list!

Short books? SHORT BOOKS?! No no no, LOONG books. Long books are better. =P Long. Long is good. lol
Aww I'm slightly younger that B20... but only by like 3 months!! lol
I'm reading Seize the Night by Dean Koontz. AWESOME BOOK!! So yes, this teen is reading this week. =P

I'm still a teen right now so yay! Im 18 and almost a half so Im still good for this week. I wish it was pirate day again, I missed it this year.

I'd join you... but...
I dunno - that title sounds boring.
Plus I'm reading Wicked currently... @.@ And OMG it's such a scandalous book. Nothing like the musical. The whole first section is all about Elphaba's adulterous mother xD

KyandiKat17 4 years ago
well technically Brotherhood 2.0 has been read to... both you and John have read on your vlogs, so that must count right?

short books are ok, but I love long books! The only ting I did't like about Katherines was that it was too short. But I read it slow, so at least it lasted longer. But even long books like harry potter are too short, I wish good books were longer.

Oh yeah, that was a shameless plug. But I agree that some ideas *cough*harrypotter*cough* doesn't need to be created as a video blog. How weird would that be. Oh well, let us keep world suck down and make sure B2.0 doesn't steal the car tonight.
