  • I thought it was good enough, fair play

  • Don't I know the Korean way of surprise! We've promised you would do something and now it's up to you to deliver or awkwardly try to weasel your way out of it. If i had a dime for each time my Korean bosses did this..

  • BRAVO!

  • you handled yourself well considering.

You really should have mentioned more about the lack of communication between at least one co teacher and yourself, i.e. the one who was supposed to let you know about the speech. But then again, welcome to Korea!

  • that wasn't bad at all. Mine was worse. 3 days in with my school they had me do a speech. No notice! It was broadcasted throughout the entire middle school (approx 1400 students + teachers). My coteacher kept abruptly cutting me off to translate everything I was saying into Korean. It was surreal! In retrospective, im glad they didnt give me notice. I would have been more nervous if they told me long before hand I would give a speech. It's been over a year now and I still love Korea!

  • Hey mate, i am about to finish my BA in Aust and have just come back from a couple of motnhs travelling Korea. I am keen to do what are you doing and teach there! Are you enjoying your time and is the money enough to comfortable?

    Ps Speech was fine!

  • Hello.

I'm back in Canada now, but Korea was awesome. I had a wonderful time there, the pay was more than comfortable when the low cost of living is factored in. I only spent about 3 months salary the whole year, and saved the rest. I would definitely do it again.

Being from Australia is a plus, they want the students to experience a variety of different English accents, and most of the teachers are North Americans.

  • @theheadlessrabbit man maybe you should have gave that translator a break. You made her memorize so much and translate it! but other than that it was fine.

  • I think your speech sucked, no offense. It might have bipassed as an -A in Canada or America, but you don't see that Korea is a competitive world of professionalism to the highest echelon in businesses.

  • do you still teach art?

  • your speech is really fine :)

  • I thought your speech was fine. They probably dont know everything you're saying anyway. Just don't end every sentence with an upward inflection.

  • They prolly got like 60% of what you were saying.

  • i agree with the other guy, you did just great

  • I taught in China and my first classes had more than 100 people. During the time I was there I was asked to do many talks and it stopped being a big deal. If it is any consolation, most people don't even understand what you are saying well. They like to hear foreigners speak, so I am sure they appreciated your presence.

  • I thought your speech was fine man

  • thanks.

I was so nervous up there. Every single principal in the province was there, and I was afraid that my speech came out sounding a little negative. I don't want to say anything bad in front of all of my bosses! I was speaking on behalf of every foreign teacher in the province! i had to make a good impression. :P

man, i hope i dont have to do this again for a long time!

  • I thought your talk was great! But, I am your mother, so maybe my opinion doesn't count! Did any of the people in the audience understand what you were saying?

  • since you were takling about embrassment, here is a video i did being bored late night.by the way...your speech was fine =)

  • hahaha!

your right marcel, your video is far more embarassing than mine!

    good job!

and damn, that song is catchy...
