  • .. continued.. i think that they are planning ren-faire type events there and they do historical educational tours and such on site. Should be able to google it and find it pretty fast... maybe you can go there and do some larping too :0

  • And to those in the US who may be interested, there's a true-to-life replica of a French castle being built in Missouri near Branson area .. they have a website, but not sure what it is... if you're interested, they are building it by historically correct method and with ancient tools and crafts; have people dressed in historicaly accurate clothing and a market there true to the medieval period. Volunteers welcome-i think some are paid.Apparently it'll take them 40 years to build it. i think th

  • maybe this is not a correct assumption, but as a quick observation to provoke further thought, perhaps the case of Larp being a much more serious event in Europe is because 'history' there is much more tangible so to speak.. if you're dreaming of the medieval. Do you see? there are more real historical battle grounds, castles, cathedrals etc etc than you could possibly hope to see in a lifetime. I think to them, that history runs very deep, and in a different way sometimes than to people inUSA

  • I've never larped but wouldn't mind doing so.. the more I look into it... seems there's a lot of work and energy that goes into simply preparing it.. similar to a movie or broadway play i guess. ^.^ Maybe I'm wrong. As a dancer, history buff and beginning seamstress of period clothing, I can only say that those who can truly pull off something like this ... have only earned praise.

  • The people disliking this really need to sort out their priorities, to be honest I reckon the haters just do not have the stones to do this sort of thing, I mean, maybe they use latex weaponry, it still bloody hurts, (If you swing it right.. ) But no, can't you all just Live and Let Live?

  • We are tryign to get a LARP that is remotly presentable, I mean, We are goign to get a LARP group goign that actually is worht being in, We are doing our best to keep it a realistically "Fantastical" What I mean is, A fantasy that is so realistic its hard to figure out if its fake. A sort of european LARP in my eyes, They are in fact the wottcakes of LARP. Its goign to be tough getting good roots because, we are a USA LARP. But we will do our best.

  • i wish that it was leagal to have a sport whare people can volintarily fight in an arina like gladiator style but we are too civilized to allow such a sport

  • Looks great. I love the final shot of the silhouetted character with the wings. It looked very epic.

  • That looks way too fun.

  • don't get you anywhere? m8. there are ALOT of normal things that don't get you anywhere in life that ppl do, but ppl do it anyway. I play Age of conan... it doesn't bring me anywhere either, but I still do it.

Atleast this is physical activity and SOCIAL.

there's alot of worse things in life your kid can get himself mixed up in than this.

  • Any Aussies interested in LARP there are a few in the sydney area. we are just starting out, but happy to bring more into the fold!

  • No way chicks at a Sydney LARP would be that hawt :p

  • This is the biggest even in the history of the world! It changed my life and I became more trained in my fighting here. It is frustrating tthat no one understands how important this stuff really is!

  • the only videos ive seen of full scale larping are in germany.

  • They have the SCA in the U.S Full scale three thousand man battles but rattan weapons instead of foam. More brutal. Look up Pennsic War on You

    tube.

  • So much arguing all the time. I guess, the problem is that in the US it´s more common than in Europe to look down upon people who are interested in fantasy related stuff. I hope this will change within the next few years. And this goes out to the people who think dressing as warriors and fighting with swords is ridiculous: have you ever heard of paintball? Same thing, army style. Strangely, noone calls those guys nerds.

  • not if hes holding a paintball gun, lol

  • in reality, they're envious that some ppl have the imagination to live out fantasies that others cannot/doesn't dare. you guys just do what you guys do best. don't let anyone else tell you what you CAN and CANNOT do.

it's true that to the untrained eye, it might look wiered, but imo , being able to do this well is a strenghtener of character.

Also it's social, AND tons upon tons of good fun.

let all the trollers and whiners go their way, and you guys keep it up :) I love it.

  • @DolgLanjelin yeah... but you use plastic swords man. If you belived in it that much, why not go for it for real man.

  • @Graftin2006

I do practice for real with real steel swords, crafted by Paul Binns. I train WMA both one and two handed, and have been doing so for 6 years now. I haven't got the imagination to do LARP, so it's not for me. I just stick to the hard part of swordsparring, :)

  • @Graftin2006 saftey issues with the system organisers. and also, have you ever been hit with a real sword, chainmail or no, its a heavy metal club essentially. you will be bruised.

plus the latex sword i have is very solid and pretty weighty. you dont have to suspend your belief nearly as much as youd think. :)

  • @6STORM6LORD6

No, it's just that US Larping is fucking weak. I refer you to "Lighting Bolt" if you have any queries.

In Europe, those bastards are fucking brutal.

  • @phantombrickthrower

As one of those 'bastards' I thank you sir. XD *tips hat*

  • @MrMoosticles

Not at all sire, *twirls moustache*

  • In czech rep. we have Battle of 5 army(e)s every year over 1200 peolpe are there and even kids under 15 can play (skaut battle)

  • check out this one nero illinois chapter they let kids under 16 play

  • In ithaca NY they let 15 year olds larp.. I can't I'm about 3 hours away from it . check it out Warlords of Cornfield

  • i really want to do this but A: can't drive B: who wants a 15 year old to do this with them anyway and C: i bet some people would ruin it... looks really fun though

  • im 15 f*cko and larp pretty long! so shut the f*ck up!

  • Well my dear friend, he wasn't saying it was a bad thing. He just didn't think anyone would want a 15 year old wich is really wierd.

  • weird indeed.. cause i am 15 and i do it pretty long..

  • Okay,

This is how it should work

    15 year old.. = Dwarf.

That worked out well! XD I mean seriously! xD

  • god i wanna go on a german LARP!

    (LARP:er from sweden :P)

  • Daaaaamn....I'd would love to do that

  • does anyone know a good larp orginasation ( correct me if i'm wrong ) ( don't ge ME wrong i'm from holland )

  • I have been larping for about 8 years now, and anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm not a nerd. I'm a cop and an amateur MMA fighter. I just happen to love LARPing, and commend anyone who is open minded enough to attend an event.

  • I like larping because of the exercise but mostly because off the people. Noone cares where your from or how much money you earn it;s like one big family but thats my opinion. And a computer does not meet the thrill of the reality that larping gives.

  • Even if I didn't larp, I think that the chance to meet and RP with the pretty young princess at 1:04 would be enough to get me into it! :-D

  • not all larpers are nerds. I'm a perfectly normal kid in real life and I larp. I flirt with hot girls and play sports and what not. I also have a friend who larps he is completely ripped and could kick any jocks ass. So stop generalizing about larping and anyone else whos a "normal" out there and has has thoughts about larp just go ahead and try it. no one needs to know. Trust me its alot more fun than you think

  • hey that was a pretty smart comment ^^

  • I'd have to agree. I'm into the larp because I like the exercise, the drinking and the wenching in between the all night clubbing. At least some of us are active and want something more than xbox. A friend of mine describes it as "cross country pantomime" and he also does it. Granted it's not regarded as the most macho of pastimes but then it's not widely known about and it beats eating crisps playing console games whilst putting on the pounds. :)

  • LARP'ing is cool. I did it a couple times a few years ago. Honestly, you should evny the person that walks out into public and doesn't care what people think. Its the self-conscience attitude of "OMG PEOPLE WILL THINK I'M A NERD" thats going to stop you in life.

I work with a guy really into Amtgard, I tease him mercilessly about it, but at the end of the day I gotta tip my hat to him for enjoying what he does.

  • Role playing in real life or ingame is both a way of creativity. In real life you are restricted by the laws of nature, in games like World of Warcraft you can do crazy things, die as many times as you wish and shoot fire balls out of your arse: I love both. I like the thrill of battle and I like to relieve fantasies in games that can't be done in real life. And if you like World of Warcraft you should have respect for any other fantasy doing, and visa verta.

  • myticgoat:

i totally agree. sitting in a little cell in a basement, being all pale and lonely, flaming other ppl by shouting curses into the mic and merely moving ones fingers over the keyboard and mouse is really much better than larping.

    -what is sarcasm-

  • Oh my god, i can't stand people like you, who talk crap about things they don't have a clue about. Seriously, those people are getting outside, are creative and spend much money for their stuff. When you play WoW you do like nothing but sitting on your butt. Think again about what is sad and what is not.

  • You're also not getting any exercise. Let me guess, you are a 400 pound fifteen year old in Texas.

  • this is the best larp video ive seen. it looks amazing.

i love the angel / justicator kit at the end!

  • Larping is so much fun, god it gets pretty messy too, last time I went to larp my friend broke his nose, we laughed about it, but many I wish I had hundreds of people to larp like that too...maaaan...

  • weird comment comming from a guy with his videos full of viking.. why are you so mad?

  • ... get a life. (Jup, larpers have a better life than you flamers ^^)

  • wow do you really think so ?

  • Yes I do.

  • me too if you search for wolin 2005 you'll see what i mean or check my channel

  • What are you saying. You Dress up as viking and do something almost no different than larp. Look clearly you share a common interest with larpers. I Larp I am very much into vikings. We use foam or latex swords cause we don't want to hurt eachother, our friends! You should respect that. I understand that you probably like using real steel or iron swords and bruise eachother and thats cool! But I don't understand how you can put down others just like you. come on man your better than that.

  • This is to Varangianguard01^

  • I would say bruising is alright :D Small cuts or scraps arent bad imo. If lived in Europe, I'd larp. Over here its all about orcs/elves/etc (no offense to anyone.) And people over here are too narrowminded to appreciate this stuff.

  • Well, they have one, do you have one two?

  • LARPING looks awesome!!!! I want to try it sometime SO bad!!! It is every geeks dream!

  • it's no just geeks who plays larp, it's a theather and a game for all peoples and ages..

  • I think its funny that these people are distinguishing themselves from WoW players, i mean to me its like..

    ......[eh]....

  • you fag, larp dosent have ENYTHING with wow 2 do!

  • Roleplaying came waay before warcraft

  • Roleplaying is way more creative then any graphical game in existence, realy, it is. If I'm right, only a handfull of people in this event play WoW, if I'm wrong then only a handfull of people join that BECOUSE the play wow ^^

  • This is great. My brothers and I made our own larp type thing. We called it knight training cuz' there are just 3 of us. We made shields out of wood and our swords were construction marker stick (the pointed ones). Kind of dangerous but no ones hurt yet lol

  • NICE! i larp, started after i found out i had agroup in my town, stopped plaing WoW..=P lol, anyways, lovethe full scale larping hope to join one one day. oh yea, forgot lol, my friend came to one of our events with armor and a sword bought from a haloween store...lol.

  • alternatively you could do it differerntly and buy latex weapons with a fiberglass core... they last much longer and you can buy them of certified traders :-P

  • larp looks kinda fun. how do most people make their wepons?

  • There are places you can buy weapons, but that gets pretty expensive. Most weapons are made from PVC pipe, pool noodles, and duct tape. You've have to check out the rule book for the larp you want to attend to see what's appropriate. And you can google boffer making directions as well.

  • Yea video gamers, please, if you like you MMORPG's then get off ur arse and go LARP. It acualy GIVES you exercise, and exitement.

  • yea. larpers=more dignity then video games.

we get off our asses. run. and fight for 3 days.

world of warcraft. months at a time. eating 24/7. sitting there.

  • well, most of us are not in good shape but u will wonder what a chainmail can do to your wheight in 3 days :-)

keep laughing, we love to entertain u... really

  • what music is that? I want to download...

Cool armor fellows! I am going to larp to but my armor is just a t-shirt with some learther and home-made chain :-(

  • It's from the moive "The Rock" With Sean Connery, and Nicholas Cage

  • ...GERMAN DRACHENFEST FOR EVER !!!!!!!!! ^^

...ich bin deutscher und liebe das DRACHENFEST und alle die dort mit machen und mindestens einen töten oder einfach nur guten Willen - also im sinne davon jemanden zu TÖTEN - haben !!!!!! ^^

    LARP ... !

  • my luck my army would sneek off behind me leaving me alone against the vast army!...my luck X3 lol

  • Crazy Germans and their goldfinger painted hot women...

  • my charecter was killed once so i made a new one then ran half naked into the camp fo orcs that killed me with a two handed bastad sword Shouting "I shall never be silenced!" and started attacking. Was so funny as there was about 150 orcs v me..... i didnt last long but was god fun

  • sehr gut mit der musik und so.... weiter so

    nico

  • oh, this isn't LARP, they're actually beating the shit out of each other. That's not called LARP that's called beating the shit out of each other.

  • it's heavy larp, but we can see great battle only, i think..

  • No that's called a "hack and slash larp" Other larp is called adventure ore roleplaying larp...

  • Larping, FTW Over 9000!11!1

  • wow people actualy saying larp looks fun! fianly non-ass holes!!! woot larp and woot this video!!!!

  • yeah nerds rule! or geeks, however! LARPing's cool!

  • i want to fight too

  • Actually the correct term would be 'Geek', considering larpers don't just make up for internet and IT folk. There's doctors, nurses, firemen, Lawyers, Students, Hippies (am one of them)...yeah, geek should cover all them ;).

  • Wow. 2000! That's impressive!

  • :O 2000 nerds join forces to defeat each other

  • almost 2000 nerds!? i wonder how much bandwidth got freed up that day

  • Dibs on the girl in the green dress and the tiara :)
