  • @johndeere5719 that depends on what your going to use it for...if for live shows then of course a amp..or use it with an amp and mike it to record with or line into the recorder....it just depends on what your going to use it for. me ..i use an amp when im sitting around jamming but i mainly line into my digital recorder when recording, man..or use it with headphones...its all up to you

  • Hello;Do I have to use a separate amp for the best sound in using this drum machine ?

  • thanks for uploading this

  • @kingorbit You're welcome ;-)

  • Can you create patterns from samples in two or more different banks? For example, creating a beat with the kick in bank A, but the snare in bank B?

  • @UnfamousJames Sorry so late getting back to you. I've been extremely busy. To answer your question YES you can do this. You can also create your own custom kits by combining ANY of the drum sounds in the unit.

  • you can always record more complex drum beats and set them as presets right?

  • @Zombi3Biscuit You can create your own patterns.., but you'll save those to a user location. The presets cannot be overwritten.

  • can i just connect this to my Bose headphones? or does it have to be a stereo?

  • Yes.., you can use headphones, output it in stereo., or even mono.

  • how do you record sound and make actual tracks?

  • Can you flat out just plug this thing into an guitar amplifier?

  • Does it have a MIDI output or USB? How many connections does it have?

  • It has a standard midi out jack and no USB. Connections are stereo/phones output, mono output, footswitch input, and midi jack.

  • Thanks for posting the demo - There seems to be a timing glitch when you change patterns? Does it not align the next pattern to play *after* the current pattern has finished rather than cutting in straight away?

  • Glad you liked the vid. That's really not a glitch. Just how it's set up on the MRT. To get a fluid change from one pattern to the next you'd go into the song mode and chain the patterns together.

  • do you think it would be okay for regular recordings? not just pratice. i'm talkin about hip hop and electronic.

  • In one simple word...., NO :) The MRT-3 is horrible for hip hop and electronica. If you want a Zoom drum machine for that they make the SB-246 (StreetBoxx)

  • thanks for the advice. and for $200, it doesn't seem bad. i'll look into it.

  • silly question, but do you think it would be easy/possible to do double pedal with this machine?

  • That I'm not sure of. If used s simple footswitch to control the bass drum though.

  • Do you run it through a small PA speaker? I want to get one but im not sure what i should run it through.

  • For this vid I had it running through a basic set of computer speakers. You can run it through anything really. Lots of choices out there.

  • Thanks so much for this vid - very helpful.

  • You're welcome. Glad you liked it :)

  • I've never used this type of setup with Cubase. The MRS-4 isn't a new unit though. It's actually a "discontiuned item". I had an MRS-4 probably a good 7 years ago and used it with my MRT-3 (the silver MRT-3 and MRS-4 were made to go together as a pair years back). The two together were a cost effective recording pair for guitarists on a limited budget. I don't know of anyone who used it with software applications though.

  • Hi!

The MRT-3, with the new Zoom MRS-4 is compatible with Cubase???

  • It has got a couple.., but I'm not sure if it's enough to cover those styles. I've always felt it was more of a rockers drum machine.

  • can the footswitch control tap tempo, start stop?

  • Yes!

  • Economy is so so in this town :) I keep trying to get my accountant (the wife) to help stimulate the economy here.., but that in itself can be a battle at times :) One very positive thing I'll say about the MRT-3 is that the sound is extremely clean and crisp. The sample rate is also above CD quality too. Overall a very good drum machine for under $100.., but I paid more for mine since my unit was purchased shortly after they were released.

  • how's the economy going in squeaktown? :D. it sounds a lot like my rt-223. a bit better actually. to be honest with you i can deal without the bass guitar sounds on mine.
