Phil Spector's parents were 1st cousins... His father committed suicide when Phil was very young, leaving him to be raised by a obsessive controlling mother and a sister who followed in his mother's footsteps. Phil was very short and frail and was constantly picked on by bullies at school. I am not making excuses for him, but certainly he had his challenges. When you combine all that with the wealth and power he achieved, it is not surprising that he developed a history of irrational acts.
The Ramones didnt think too highly of him. Maybe Joey. But Joey kinda livrd in a fantasy world. Whats the reality of the true Spector? Probably a selfish person. His twin sons hadnt talked to him in 10 years.
het was niet de eerste keer dat ie dat flikte bij vrouwen, en denk je nu echt dat zo'n rijke amerikaan onschuldig vast zit ?? in the usa nota bene.....laat me niet lachen zeg
i don't say murder is good. I just don't understand why there are all these i hate phil spector clips because he killed someone. You all like to say he's a murderer because he is famous. Why is he famous? Because he is a fucking good producer! There are millions of murderers on this planet, and by coincidence this one is famous. I don't see a lot of hate clips about Sid Vicious. He probably killed his girlfriend too. It's because Phil was behind the scenes and not on the stage.
It's time you got this video off here. Spector is bad taste personified. He's probably being beaten up in prison now by a nasty con. Good. He's no giant - he's a talentless fool.
could someone tell me what kind of music it is in this first few 30 seconds of this video? it reminds me of something you'd hear on world war documentaries. it really relaxes me. would love to know how i could get hold of some
I never got to the Cigar Store, 3 movie producers from France,Switzerland & Romania talked with me.
They gave me 2 great cigars that cost over $150. They made me smoke them both in 20 minutes so I could puke for the movie camera. They advertise in High Times Magazine,Sports Illustrated & The Guardian.
oh, ok and that gives him the right to kill, i don't like your comment does that give me the right to kill you.........come on that comment was just stupid...
Hey! He Exploited all the Artists that you hear and then some, He's A Murdering SOB! Give him a "Tribute" For What? Robbing , And, Plagerizing every artist he could get a hold of in the Music Business, He belongs with OJ as Cell Mates. He'd probably would be the Woman in that Situation. Plus He's really an "Ugly Fuk!"
phil went to my high school for a time. first time i met him we talked about our record collections. he said he had 4000 and i never could have concieved anyone having that much, especially at that age. i had like 30
very talented , look at teh facts people dont be ignorant all ur life have u seen the evidencethe jacket he wore which had NO BLOOD ON , NO TISSUE MATTER WAKE UP SMELL THE COFFEE HE IS INNOCENT
Yea, and she went to Harvey's to check out his record collection and decided, " Hey, while I'm here I might as well kill myself with his gun. He threatened many people with weapons over the years, and those of us who knew him realized it was only a matter of time. You're either naive or one of his laywers.Probably one he hasn't sued yet.
@tonyblairinmybed I will always believe PHIL SPECTER was a victim of circumstances. The statement he made to that chauffer AND then after Roert Blake and OJ got off,,,here comes PHIL,,,the jury was up against all that. I think him and Clarkson were fooling around with his gun probably both drunk or high or both and the gun went off. His appearance in court didn't help.

actually as a studio engineer myself he wasn't really all that great, he just turned everything up loud. That was his "wall of sound" secret, anybody can do that. A real producer would never do that.
lol...not jealous at all it seems... there was much more to it than that fella... instrument combination being a major factor, bass's in 5ths, use of echo, mixing in MONO, loads of stuff...your right anyone can turn everything loud...but you wont make the amount of hits he had just doing that...
no I don't. Spector confessed, but after he lawyered up, he claimed Clarkson killed herself. Look at the crime scene photos, her body was messed with and the gun had zero prints on it.
@LiberalDemocrat83 No prints on it ??? Where'd you read or see that. I personally think they were both drunk and probably high and playing with his gun THEN he runs out telling the Chauffer I THINK I KILLED SOMEONE.

He was hardly the talent that people make him out to be. He turned out some good ones, but usually his heavy orchestration would become annoying, I.E. his mix of Let It Be.
Spector takes a lot of credit that rightly belongs to the musicians. His "thick" sound might have been a plus in the days of tinny-sounding AM radios, but it can't compete with the clarity that came with newer technology. Spector didn't make that transition very well.
Phils layering of sound was so amazing. This was multitracking by replaying the same part over and over again and then mixing it together. Listen to the lush guitar intro on My Sweet Lord. I understand he was a major pain in the ass to work with- but a genius. An absolute genius.
@valvalient In SONNY BONO's book from a few years back Sonny sez that when he was writing for Phil,,Phil would always ask everyone DOES IT SOUND DUMB ENOUGH after recording a song in the studio.
It is not about the man and his private life. It is about his contribution to some of the greatest music ever. We will let the court of law decide his fate. The public will judge his place in the music business.
a tribute to Phil - what are you crazy? I haven' heard that he's dead. He might have been had he endedup in jail for the murder he committed. I hope another trial puts him behind bars.
To prove just what a musical genius was Spector, his song,"You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" , (1)
according to BMI, was the most played song on US radio in the 20th century. (2) the song was #34 on the list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone Magazine.
The man went to see his father's grave in Long Island. The epitaph read, "To Know Him Was to Love Him." He pens the song on the flight back to California. He gets Anne Kleinbard from Fairfax HS to back him up. He and she become the "The Teddy Bears." The song sells in the millions. And he's no genius?
Spector was a genius at composing, arranging and producing but unfortunately, I predict, by virtue of insanity, he'll be found innocent of first degree murder thus spending the rest of his life in a mental institution.
Wow! He spends years pointing guns at people, FINALLY kills a beautiful, talented woman and... gets FOUR YEARS to prepare for trial? How can this be?
And, talk about sympathetic media coverage - Lana Clarkson is presented to us, the SHEEPLE, as if she were a rabid dog that ran out in front of a car driven by poor, talented, persecuted Phil Spector. Not once - once - have I seen any media references to Lana Clarkson's mother, her father, or any loved ones.
The "professor" is partially correct--the original Crystals were 5 brooklyn teenagers. B. Alston, Dee Dee Kennibrew, Myrna Girard, Mary Thomas & Pat Wright. But NO original Crystal sang on "He's a Rebel." It was Love backed by the Blossoms. BTW, what is "Cara Mia" by Jay/Americans doing here? IMO, Phil had no involvement w/this song.
This was odd, it showed Ronnie Spector whil "Then He Kissed Me" played which was sung by La La Brooks of The Crystals. It also said the Crystals were really Bob B. Sox and the Blue Jeans, when the Crystals, aside from "Hes A Rebel" by Darlene Love, were La La Brooks and Barbara Alston backed by The Blossoms and Cher. Not very accurate.
