i remember back when Robin and Skye cut their hair, I thought it looked really weird. But now seeing Skye with this hair is just really strange. This song has grown really well as this band has matured in their short history. love it.
Their debut is basically a collection of really awesome songs, but Helplessness Blues moves more like a collective; a series of closely related movements. It's not as immediate, but I think it has more depth.
Does anybody know what kind of mic that is? I take everything nigel does recording-wise as aboslute-truth and the best possible thing you can do sooooo yea anybody know?
@lucas0908 you mean early morning jacket?...yeah....pretty much like it but more pastoral like sounding....but yeah they kinda ripped them off in a way
I would say I like this version a little better then the the album, just because the electric guitar parts sound a little more abrasive/dirty in a good way on this one.
YouTube is so bad about bringing out only very positive or very negative feed back. I'm going to offer a balanced view here and say that this is a great song, a good performance, but I prefer the bass line and harmonies on the album.
@sesshomaru322 the real problem probably is that music invokes an emotiona response and emotional responses are hard to put down in words in a nuanced way for most people ;)
may be intentional..they might as well be walking around in bare feet... but i don't think you could compare them-i think these guys have a very developed image already so that means either they're surrounded by utter pros or they'll be a cult-followed flash in the pan. i hope not.. what a lovely bunch of voices. substantive lyrics.. the descendants of appalachian mountain fiddlers? along with the Horseflies and Nickel Creek..
i could be totally off on that. anyway , i like them.
Great!!!

I want Robin's beard. Not too small, and not so big he looks like he's in a cult. Maybe it is the source of his powers...

@swampmusicmusic True, way too much reverb, or at least too long a reverb time.

I completely agree with the youtube comment. You either have people saying that it's the best song they've ever heard, or you have a riot of flamers.
