I wish I could've shot it in boot camp too. but instead they gave me 2 weeks of the M16, with another couple days for combat marksmanship. But then there's combat training and I got to shoot the M203, M249, M240, throw an M69 frag and shoot tracers from an AT-4.... plus more combat marksmanship with the M16. Fun. you should have joined another branch. That way you could be regretting not being infantry and not shooting the .50 cal

No, it's the easist weapon in the military. You open the tube, put a round in, close the tube, aim, and pull the trigger. It's so easy a Puerto Rican can do it.
Actually the g36c does not use the m203 it uses a different 40mm known as the AG36 grenade launcher. You can notice some similarities between the AG36 and the HK-G36C when it comes to the handle and safety. Although I've seen some airsofters mount an m203 on a g36c I've never actually seen anything other than the AG36 on a real g36c.
Aw yeah, the good old days in Fort Benning with the M16s. Once you get out of basic training, the M203 is just one of the standard attachments to the M4, which I don't really like now that pretty much anyone can get one as long as they pass this course.

But since you cant mentally measure distance for crap, you zero in your scope to 400 yards. You take the shot, now what? You miss. The guy knows where you are and your screwed. Next thing you know your getting shot at and gave away your position and everyone around you. Its not like video games where "Ooooh sniping is cool".

Practice. Go to a football field with measured lengths of rope, or a laser range finder and set up different distances. Doing the same thing in a forest or large parks works too. I do this to remember my estimates.

The 203 is the best weapon in our arsenal in my opinion. I loved it and would have kicked a guy threw a wall if he'd have touched mine. Nothing better than a cannon under your rifle.
very relaxed atmosphere, a little too relaxed. when it comes to weapon training/ firing i demand the utmost attention to saftey. but thats just me i guess. i think the marines are a little more focused from what i have seen. btw i am not military, just a gun "freak".
It is akward firing the m203 in the first place, it is difficult to try to shoulder the weapon (which feels natural) and have your hands on the trigger at the same time, so you have to bring it under your arm which is why they are practicing

And besides..."shooting a gun" like you did back on the farm may not be the best way...which is why in the Army...ANY Army, they teach you how to "fire a weapon" THEIR way.

If you ever join the military you won't have a choice. ;-) I DO encourage you to join though....you will make friends that are like family - unlike any relationships you could form in civilian life....you will have the job satisfaction that only comes with serving your country and the greater good...you will join the ranks of heroes.

depends on your job, positions, and rank. An Army infantry private will have a M203; an Army MP sergeant will have a M203.

you dont get to choose your weapon really... they give you what your best at and sometimes they switch you out... at least thats how it was in the marines...

Yea i agree the M203 is good but i prefer the new XM230. Like the M203 but can be a weapon system of its own at the same time

The 203 is the best weapon in our arsenal in my opinion. I loved it and would have kicked a guy threw a wall if he'd have touched mine. Nothing better than a cannon under your rifle.

very relaxed atmosphere, a little too relaxed. when it comes to weapon training/ firing i demand the utmost attention to saftey. but thats just me i guess. i think the marines are a little more focused from what i have seen. btw i am not military, just a gun "freak".

It is akward firing the m203 in the first place, it is difficult to try to shoulder the weapon (which feels natural) and have your hands on the trigger at the same time, so you have to bring it under your arm which is why they are practicing

Well...I don't know many civilians who cap a buck with a 40mm grenade launcher....
And besides..."shooting a gun" like you did back on the farm may not be the best way...which is why in the Army...ANY Army, they teach you how to "fire a weapon" THEIR way.

Besides, constant practice (with feedback) is really the only way to make sure that you're /still/ good at it.
