@izzdabizz1 Look on the bright side; this was a joke, purposely made to make fun of the Superman musical of the 70s. No one has (to date) had the stupidity (or the lack of enjoyment of life; seriously, Batman fans can get brutal if their idol is in danger of disgrace) to put Batman on Broadway. Spiderman, on the other hand, is now doing the Walk of Shame down the Great White Way.
If Bruce had seen this when he was still in his prime, he probably would've beaten them all up in his Batman costume and then told them that they were off-key.
That has got to be the greatest musical since A Very Potter and A Very Potter Sequel...feel for Bruce Wayne though...I would run away as fast I could too.
I personally got a kick out of this. If they did something like this for a real musical (poking fun at it and not taking itself too seriously) I think it might be worth seeing....
Ha, that second song reminded me of the Justice League episode where young Bruce teams up with older Bruce. "Are criminals still superstitious and cowardly?" "Yeah." "Good enough for me." =P
I wonder if Zatanna, Lois Lane, & Selina Kyle are still alive in this era? Zatanna is likely still around, as magic types of her caliber tend to have longer life spans.
@WystenDraco Well, I know for a fact that Lois is dead by this point (in the episode with the future Justice League, it's revealed she died 10 years previously, and Superman's grief detached him from humanity).
I figured as much but school kept me from watching every ep at the time, and most retail stopped having a wide slection of DVD sets, I only have the first season. Looks like Bruce had one up on Superman there, he was always detached from humanity more often than the others, but the losing your parents like he did would likely do that to anyone. At least Bruce had a father by my standards. I wish my own father had a personality like Bruce's, kindness, understanding, love, etc.
WOW! I forget that Kevin can sing. He can sing, Snape from Harry Potter can sing, it makes me wonder what other actors and voice actors out there can sing.
Ok first off I want to get this out of the way so people don't think I'm being a jerk a. I love the DCAU, and b. This is an awesome musical segment right up there with "Birds of Prey" but one thing bothers me.
Namely 1:08......HOW THE HELL DO THEY KNOW HE SAID THAT WHEN HE FIRST CHOSE HE IDENTITY?! What was the new Batman (Terry?) just happen to be hanging around the script writers and 'suggest' they put it in?
@DoctorMorithias Does he say that in "Mask of the Phantasm"? The line "superstitious, cowardly lot" is from the 1939 comic book origin. I think it's been used a couple times in the Animated Series, other than here (not sure about the animated origin), so it's possible he mentioned to someone somewhere and it became a known line of his. Or it's a coincidence.
Or maybe old Dick Grayson is a Hollywood producer (deflecting suspicion with a female Robin!)
@TooCool1993 this clip is taken from "Out of the past" episode. The birthday and play have Bruce reminiscing about his old flames, as seen in at the end of this clip. Talia Al Ghoul then shows up and offers Bruce the use of the Lazarus pit. I won't ruin the rest of the episode for you.
If you go to Megavideo and type in "Batman Beyond, out of the past", you should be able to view the entire episode as I did two weeks ago
@drumlip Actually, that's Lois Lane. She and Bruce had a thing for each other in World's Finest. Wonder Woman isn't on there because this was made before Justice League Unlimited.
Kevin Conroy should really invest in a musical XD Heck, the entire cast should. BECAUSE THEIR SINGING VOICES, JUST YES.
Also, I burst out laughing everytime I see the intro of this. Referencing the Music Meister episode in the Brave and the Bold, musical Batman is ALWAYS a win.
@AlchemyAngelizBack I dunno, Dick would probaably think it funny and make a joke about if his legs looked like that, he'd never have stopped wearing the shortpants costume.
Though uncredited, Kevin Conroy also provided the voice of his on-stage double. This marks only one of two instances in the DCAU when Conroy has exhibited his fine singing voice, the other being the Justice League Unlimited episode "This Little Piggy."
Yeah, I knew I recognized Kevin's voice. Best voice actor in history, along with Mark Hamil. And of course, Arleen Sorkin is the one and only Harley Quinn. They always could pick a perfect cast!
Ahh, so THIS is why Bruce tried to hide his singing talent.
First he's forced to sing to save Diana, then years later he has to suffer through "Batman:The Musical". (that must be why he looked so depressed when he realized what he had to do--he KNEW this was coming. lol)
