My family and I used to listen to John Denver's greatest hits as drove 3 hrs to my aunts for Thanksgiving when I was a kid. This song was one of my favourites and I knew all the songs off that album by the time I was 7. :) Great video and I loved watching the muppets as well!
Oh how I miss the Muppet Show it was delightufl and fun for the whole family. Carol Burnett was marvelous. Remember Mrs. Wiggins and Went With The Wind? Classic classic.
@bratrat I'm a 54 year old kid LOL! I found alot of the skits for Muppet Show and Carol Burnett on YouTube. I particuarly loved the Muppet Show where Dale Evans did Deep In The Heart of Texas with the Muppet cabbage patch kids LOL! That was a treat to see them again.
Thank God for You Tube..... I remember watching this when it was originally on TV and loving it and not hearing/seeing it again until now. Its still got that sense of fun and silliness plus a great catchy tune. Muppets and John Denver, I miss you both!
i feel bad he had to dress like a grandma he was happy when he had to dress like boy one time when i wach it with my dad i though it was a girl un till i new it was john denver dress like a girl pretty funny
This is such a great video. I sure remember when this was on tv. What a great song. It is a shame kids today are not getting to see such wholesome and fun shows. Jim Henson was a genuis and John was a great singer. Bring back more videos like this.
My grandmas bed was high too! I liked to crawl from the door to the front of the bed and jump up and scare anyone who was on it!! Lol! Though no one ever payed attebtion since they were always watching Jepoardy... XD
I am/ was a hUGE John Denver fan and i grew up listening to him, know all his stuff. What avoice and talent! No Auto tune on that man!! I mis those variety shows, sappy but cute and simple..
They say you didn't make it til you were on the Muppet Show, I think this was true.
I agree with cunard61, we need more of these shows today. Reality TV is ruining society, everyone is too stressed, we need a respite for a few hrs a week.
I swear on my death bed, if I ever hear someone talk shit about John Denver. . . It would be my honor, to drive a trench spike through his/her esophagus.
John Denver and the Muppets, what a perfect combination they were, so playful. What fun John must have had interacting with them. Several years ago when John appeared in our city, he chose the choir from our school to sing with him. The members told me that he was so very pleasant to work with and they enjoyed the experience very much. May God rest his soul, and give him peace, he gave us such enjoyment over the years. I miss him. Thanks so much for sharing this, it made my day.
Adorable...I remember watching this episode of The Muppet Show when it originally aired. (I don't know why I was thinking about feather beds this morning, but I was -- and then I suddenly remembered this song, which I probably haven't heard or even thought about in ten years or more). I think one of the wonderful things about John Denver was that he always seemed to maintain a degree of childlike enjoyment and innocence, which made him a perfect guest star for The Muppet Show.
I didnt realize that John Denver had done Grandma's Feather Bed with the muppets until a few days ago and omg, HOW CUTE IT THAT?? LMAO...I love it, it gets a BIG thumb's up from me....Chris in California
Variety shows like the Muppets, Carol Burnett, ect, were some of the best programs ever put on television. John Denver was probably the Muppet shows' favorite guest star, because his music reflected the fun, simple, things in life, just like the Muppets themselves. Classic TV shows like this need to be brought back.
@cunard61 Absolutely! I'm 43 and their Christmas special from 1979 and the album that came with it STILL make the holidays for me, as does "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas". Walt Disney may be a staple of American society, but Jim Henson was a genius the likes of which the world may never see again.
I have the album of John Denver and the Muppets. When my turntable bit the dust I was tempted to get a new one just to hear that album again. It was a favorite with my kids.

This brings back such wonderful childhood memories watching muppets with my little brother eating popcorn and sometimes sitting in the middle of Grandma's big ol' bed.
I used to spend many a summer week at my grandparent's farm. One of my favorite memories of my childhood was waking up, smelling fresh country air from the window and home-cured bacon frying from the kitchen.
My grandparents, the farm, they're all gone now. I really do miss them.
