  • I hear Johnny Cash singing this in my head

  • My family and I used to listen to John Denver's greatest hits as drove 3 hrs to my aunts for Thanksgiving when I was a kid. This song was one of my favourites and I knew all the songs off that album by the time I was 7. :) Great video and I loved watching the muppets as well!

  • Grandma's beds are alwayzzz comfy....good night ...sweet dreams : ]

  • That's the best! Kudos to John Denver and kudos to Jim Henson for bringing a smile to my face (and so many other folks) then and now.

  • I heard this, this morning from the live band at McDonalds, lol yup... I havent heard this in probably 20 years or so... Great song

  • Oh how I miss the Muppet Show it was delightufl and fun for the whole family. Carol Burnett was marvelous. Remember Mrs. Wiggins and Went With The Wind? Classic classic.

  • @blueagate

I'm a 52-year old kid who remembers those programs. As the Bob Dylan song says, "The times, they are a-changin'."

  • @bratrat I'm a 54 year old kid LOL! I found alot of the skits for Muppet Show and Carol Burnett on YouTube. I particuarly loved the Muppet Show where Dale Evans did Deep In The Heart of Texas with the Muppet cabbage patch kids LOL! That was a treat to see them again.

  • @blueagate

    Amen!

  • brings a smile to my face

  • Awesome

  • :) john denver is a legend, may he rest in peace.

  • Pure Americana.

  • Classic!

  • Thank God for You Tube..... I remember watching this when it was originally on TV and loving it and not hearing/seeing it again until now. Its still got that sense of fun and silliness plus a great catchy tune. Muppets and John Denver, I miss you both!

  • i feel bad he had to dress like a grandma he was happy when he had to dress like boy one time when i wach it with my dad i though it was a girl un till i new it was john denver dress like a girl pretty funny

  • this show was like a family snl

  • This was so cute.

  • Simply Love it!

  • 11 people are Sam Eagle.

  • great song

  • great song

  • In this day and age, thats not what the majority wants

  • Brings back good memories!!

  • I love it

  • John Denver as Grandma! How hilarious!

  • This is probably the only time you'll see John Denver in drag. :)

  • John had the most fun on the Muppets of any guest, and they in turn made the show even funner

  • This is such a great video. I sure remember when this was on tv. What a great song. It is a shame kids today are not getting to see such wholesome and fun shows. Jim Henson was a genuis and John was a great singer. Bring back more videos like this.

  • My grandmas bed was high too! I liked to crawl from the door to the front of the bed and jump up and scare anyone who was on it!! Lol! Though no one ever payed attebtion since they were always watching Jepoardy... XD

  • this song is one of my favorite memories of watching the muppet show... :)

  • 10 people didn't have a lot of fun on Grandma's feather bed.

  • R.I.P. Jim Henson and John Denver.

  • 9 feet high, 6 feet wide, soft as a downy chick - my own grandmother's bed was the same - it's too bad kids today don't get what us oldun's remember.

  • @maryspinker

Mine too, my best meomory of our Grandma's in the country was the bed in the " Front bedroom " my cousin jenny and I always shared this room !

  • Laugh of the day....tahnks for posting!

RIP, John- you left too soon

  • I remember watching this on tv as a kid! I still love it!

  • This sketch made me laugh when I needed to laugh. Thank you.

  • Hah! we're singing this song in choir.

  • I am/ was a hUGE John Denver fan and i grew up listening to him, know all his stuff. What avoice and talent! No Auto tune on that man!! I mis those variety shows, sappy but cute and simple..

  • I Love John Denver. this clip is hilarious.

  • So wonderful. We don't have talented stars like this anymore.

  • @raspberrybaggio BEYONCE HAD ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS OF ALL TIME!

  • They say you didn't make it til you were on the Muppet Show, I think this was true.

I agree with cunard61, we need more of these shows today. Reality TV is ruining society, everyone is too stressed, we need a respite for a few hrs a week.

  • we sang it for quiyer

  • When I was in Middle school chorus (I just graduated from HS), we sang "Grandma's Feather Bed" and it was so fun to sing along!! RIP John Denver

  • I swear on my death bed, if I ever hear someone talk shit about John Denver. . . It would be my honor, to drive a trench spike through his/her esophagus.

    In short. . .

The consequences will never be the same.

  • @THRIVINGinCHAOS You, for this comment, are completely awesome. lol Hear, hear!

  • this man under stood moere then religuis life...........

  • John Denver and the Muppets, what a perfect combination they were, so playful. What fun John must have had interacting with them. Several years ago when John appeared in our city, he chose the choir from our school to sing with him. The members told me that he was so very pleasant to work with and they enjoyed the experience very much. May God rest his soul, and give him peace, he gave us such enjoyment over the years. I miss him. Thanks so much for sharing this, it made my day.

  • the eight people that missed the like button are either idiots or just don't know good music when they hear it. I'm thinking both.

  • I wish the audience wouldn't laugh. Its good to see john denver

  • Adorable...I remember watching this episode of The Muppet Show when it originally aired. (I don't know why I was thinking about feather beds this morning, but I was -- and then I suddenly remembered this song, which I probably haven't heard or even thought about in ten years or more). I think one of the wonderful things about John Denver was that he always seemed to maintain a degree of childlike enjoyment and innocence, which made him a perfect guest star for The Muppet Show.

  • Best family fun song ever...with the Muppets...super good!

  • Amazing man. Amazing Song.

  • How could you sleep with all the fleas! lol

    John Denver R.I.P.

  • lol a childhood memory moment.......love it

  • wonderful memories of both john and the muppets.

how i wish could go back to this time in life again.

  • Thanks, John. We miss you. R.I.P.

  • 9 feet high 6 feet wide

  • This is vintage John Denver. This is what Dad remembers in the 1970s - he loved it.

  • classic!!! Always loved this one!

  • Great video!

  • hahahahaa! John's show was so much fun! Love this, brings back good memories. cunard61, could not agree with you more!!

  • I love John Denver and the Muppets! Great memories! :)

  • @wayward1981: oh my god now i wonder how much dope you've smoked

  • ..grande John Denver..U N I C O....

  • Concordo!

  • I wish i had a big muppet sleepover one day. :D

  • "You turkeys quiet down in there so a body can get some sleep!"

  • Oh ya, makes ya laugh, very good.

  • Variety shows like the Muppets, Carol Burnett, ect, were some of the best programs ever put on television. John Denver was probably the Muppet shows' favorite guest star, because his music reflected the fun, simple, things in life, just like the Muppets themselves. Classic TV shows like this need to be brought back.

  • agree

  • @cunard61 Absolutely! I'm 43 and their Christmas special from 1979 and the album that came with it STILL make the holidays for me, as does "Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas". Walt Disney may be a staple of American society, but Jim Henson was a genius the likes of which the world may never see again.

  • naja

  • MJ couldn't sing without grabbing his crotch which wouldn't have been appropriate for the Muppet show. MJ was a weirdo.

  • umm...it's a John Denver song...duh...

  • I have the album of John Denver and the Muppets. When my turntable bit the dust I was tempted to get a new one just to hear that album again. It was a favorite with my kids.

  • Lovely John!

  • i loove this song! everytime my grandparents came in town we would sit around the camp fire and they would play the guitar and sing this song to us :) aaah good times

  • This brings back such wonderful childhood memories watching muppets with my little brother eating popcorn and sometimes sitting in the middle of Grandma's big ol' bed.

  • I used to spend many a summer week at my grandparent's farm. One of my favorite memories of my childhood was waking up, smelling fresh country air from the window and home-cured bacon frying from the kitchen.

My grandparents, the farm, they're all gone now. I really do miss them.

  • OMG!! I grew up listening to J.D. and I had to sing this song every Christmass for my Great-Grandmaw!! Brings back some great memories!!

  • what a great, fun song!!

    adorable!!

  • I love this song and i love the muppets the fact that they put them together is completely AWESOMENESS!!!!

  • So much fun to show MY kids...who never saw the muppets show or knew John's music... YouTube is a true icon...

  • he looked like he was so fun, great guy .but i gotta wonder if he minded working with puppets.. lol

  • haha yeah, i bet it was kinda creepy when he realized that there were at least 6 people (12 puppets = at least 6 puppeteers) sitting right below him with their hands stuck up everywhere...

  • Haha. Nah, seriously I don't think he minded - I wonder how many other artists could do this successfully and have fun along the way.

  • ty for this great memory

  • was that old lady also Denver? cause it looked like him

  • yes

  • okay thanks

  • reminds me of ''a biy named sue''

    Thanks for the nostalgia!

  • Haha! My Grandparents used to call my cousins and me "turkeys" if we were being too loud!

  • John Denver among all the guest stars seemed to be a part of the Muppet Family!

  • I loved this as a kid and still do. That is one pretty ugly Grandma though.

  • way too funny comment on grandma

  • Well it is true John Denver is ugly as a woman.

  • I absolutely love this, John Denver ( R.I.P ), looks like he's having so much fun! Where is the feel good innocent entertainment like this on trash T.V. nowadays? Thanks for uploading this dteeps42.

  • This was the episode where they all were going to the visit Kermit's home in the swamp.... I love the part where Miss Piggy was told that there were AL-EEEE-GAT-ORS!

There was Miss Piggy utter that frightful word with lips-a-quiverin' and it just broke John Denver up with laughter.

It's hard sometimes to believe that these delightful creatures are just bits of cloth and sponge.... Or maybe for the moment, we just want to beleive.

  • There was some great musical guests on the muppet show, this one and the gambler by kenny rogers are among the best ones!
