  • Doomed Supermarket Display.

  • @cesariojpn

That about sizes the situation up for me!

  • THAT REMINDS ME OF ME WASHING WINDOWS & THEN SOMEONE PUT PRINTS ON THE GLASS ON PURPUS.

  • This happens to me everyday where I work. Stupid customers taking the bottom of the stack instead of the top, and the shit falling to the ground.

  • @cesariojpn

My heart really goes out to you! I have also worked in my share of places where I had to deal with a lot of people doing disagreable things. Such is life!

  • @cesariojpn

I fear they may have been inspired by this cartoon.

  • It looks like the first two customers who grabbed a soup can from the stack were able to have nice soup for dinner but, it looks like the stocker wasn't going to allow the kid on rollerblades to have soup for dinner since the stocker said to him "no, don't touch these!" However, as soon as the supermarket broke into pieces, I wonder if the stocker let the kid grab a soup can then since everything in the supermarket broke into pieces except those soup cans.

  • OK lolz

  • Those have to be oversized Campbell's soup cans he's stacking. Just the right colors.

  • Man! Those customers are some rude! They couldn't take a can from the top? LOL

  • @CartoonCritter1985

    What's the fun in that?

  • Grocery Man: No, DOn't Touch These

  • oh i still laugh like crazy at this!!! anyone know how to find old sesame street episodes??? that would make me soooooo happpyyyy to find them all...

  • He hates these cans!!! There's cans in there, too!!! Stay away from the cans!!!

  • @jm113825

Aw, you've gone and spoiled all my fun :)

  • @jm113825

Very interesting. Do you work at a supermarket, a general store, a convenience store or what?

  • @jm113825

How do you stack them at work?

  • @Cuteblondie1972

    So did I!

  • Classic!!

  • Man, that's so funny, i remember the same thing happened to me, i was at a local farm center with my mom and dad, and my dad wanted to look at some weed-eaters, so my mom and i decided to look at some other stuff, when my rearend got caught on a handle of some steel buckets, when all of a sudden, my mom and i heard a cling, cling, cling, crash, and saw the steel buckrts on the floor. but some people picked them back up.

  • @DimeraFan28 Well at least that was an accident. These people were intentionally grabbing from the bottom.

  • OK~ PMSL!!!

    The guys face is priceless!

  • codie2nd

jejeje, chain reaction, one domino falls the next blocks does.jejeje

  • It's funny that the customer from 0:36-0:45 was able to stretch his arms out far at 0:45 making it look like it was Inspector Gadget stretching his arms. (I also wonder why the customer grabbed a can when he saw the stocker at 0:39 covering his eyes hoping that he doesn't take a can away. I guess he wanted to trick the stocker that he wasn't going to grab a can when he did).

  • Remember this from when I was about 3 yrs old. Seriously! Great memories ;)

  • Same thing happened when I worked at Giant happened to me too

  • I seriously used to think the kid at the end had a bomb and blew up the store!!! hahaha....amazing how when your little you mis-interpret things!

  • How in the world did he get all those big cans out of that smal box?? lol Great clip!

  • I actually work in a store and seriously, there are some customers that would actually do something to this degree..and they certainly leave a mess. This stocker in this short should be promoted to store manager!!

  • cans of campbell's soup..lol

  • @shydmples More like empty tin drums of Campbells soup!

  • lol....I can't stop laughing...actually, you're right...those are some big huge drums of Campbell's soup...like the large 10oz cans of cream of mushroom...but then again, these are much bigger...lol

  • @shydmples ..pmsl...family sized cans :)

  • Haha. I find this funny because this is what I do for a living. I work in a pharmacy and put up the shipment.

  • Well, you told me not to touch THOSE cans. LMAO.

  • WhooooooaHHH!! I remember this one! I saw this in '79 when I was in the 2nd grade.

  • LOL

  • no don't touch these

  • Okay. ::CRASH!::

  • i totally remember this one......

i saw it when i was around five, so, it was 1975 or thereabouts.....

  • pretty good my friend was a person who use to stack cans but he retired he's about 76 now-tori

  • People in supermarkets actually do this! When I was a courtesy clerk, I'd have to restack bottles & cans after someone would take one from the BOTTOM layers and make the display fall. They would just walk away like nothing happened.

  • i knw rite customer can b inconsiderately stupid

  • @MishuTaste

Wonder if any of them saw this clip and thought it would be "funny" to do it in real life.

  • I remember this one so well.

  • Wow. Costco and Sam's-size containers of soup before the mega-size age.

I thought he only stacked them up to 10. Guess it was a long time ago.

  • I think it's cool that he could get that many big cans out of a box that size. lol

  • Is that Campbell soup in those cans?

  • IT LOOKS LIKE IT DOES.

  • It must be since Campbell soup cans are usually in that color.

  • @toastichedu I think so...as you can see this is back when Campbell's soup was available in "beer keg" size.

  • @toastichedu

That is what it looks like to me.

  • a little kid buying gunpowder? ATF anyone?

  • whats ATF? lol

  • alcohol tobacco and firearms....?

  • Its a little known fact that this clip was the inspiration for Andy Warhol.

  • If that's not the truth it should be.

  • @flowertrue This clip is from wayyyyy after Warhol. But then maybe you were kidding.

  • I guess the grocery guy didn't want to SELL any of the cans, just display them!

  • I saw those at the store today - it's the Heineken Keg Can!

  • I love the reaction of the guy stacking the cans when they fall down after people take one.

  • i always liked the sound the cans made!

  • OMG me too, I was just about to say the same thing!!!!!!!!

  • I thought that it was strange that, that stocker said to the kid on rollerblades, "No, Don't Touch These!" With him saying that to the kid made it sound like that those soup cans were not for sale. (If that was true, then the stocker should've put a sign in front of the cans saying "Not For Sale"). If the stocker didn't want the pile of soup cans to fall down again, he could've said to the kid, "Please grab a can from the top."

  • Considering how they'd already fallen down twice the grocery guy was not ready to pick them up any more.

Cartoon cans NEVER stay standing for very long.

  • @afriendofbean I know. I was thinking he could at least give him one from the top or give him another one from the box.

  • @uofmrules1 I agree. I guess the stocker doesn't like any customer taking anything in the store that he's working on where if the kid took one from the top, the stocker might not have been happy to take another one from the box and recount all of them again even if they didn't fall down.

  • Irv, we were never in aisle 4!

  • Clean up on aisle 4!

  • Why couldn't they take a can from the top?

  • Too high up, I guess.

  • that sound of the cans being stacked is etched into my memory!

  • I know what you mean!!!! I forgot this existed until now! and the sound of the cans gave me mega goosebumps!

  • Have stores in real life ever really stacked cans like that?

  • @pastdweller Yes. And they still do.

  • OCD on the display much?

  • I would have kicked one of those customers for doing that!

  • I work in Wal Mart and I had Customers to the same thing to me.

  • I"ve heard of "first in, first out"..but sheesh..

  • Like Randall said in "Clerks", "This job would be great if it weren't for the f***ing customers!"

  • Is it just me, or do those look like cans of Campbell's soup?

I wonder if the CTW had to pay Campbell's a royalty for the use of their product's likeness (or for a reasonable facsimile thereof)? LOL!

Anyone wanna bet which flavour of soup was in those cans? I'm guessing tomato! LOL! ;-p

  • Those cans also look like Campbell's soup cans to me too. I also guess that it's tomato soup in those cans.

  • I used to love the sound the cans made when they were being stacked. LOL!

  • Agreed! Those customers are so stupid. I mean it makes much more sense to take the cans from the top instead of the bottom. That poor guy stocking the cans had every right to be ticked off.

  • Yeah, but then they wouldn't make that great crash-BANG as they all collapse. The Cartoon Universe is very strict about this, you HAVE to take the can from the bottom!

  • I agree

  • I've heard of "first in-first out"..but this is just downright FUNNY!

  • stupid customers! lol!

  • It sounds like Frank Oz voicing the stocker.

  • I remember the sound the cans made when he stacked them... that distinct "clink-aa" sound. haha!

  • hmm..sounds like "na-doot" to me..lol

  • Wow I don't see cans stocked like that anymore.

or maybe I just don't observe.

  • i work in a store. you have NO idea how annoying this is. just last week a kid came in my store wearing those stupid wheel heel shoes. i had finished stocking some lotion, nice and neat when CRASH!! she fell, knocked over the whole shelf, and i had to mop up the mess AND restock the ENTIRE shelf. >X(

  • what a stupid kid! :( I hate those stupid wheel shoes, that was a dumb invention! I see kids wear those at the mall. :(

  • Those weren't heallies, they were roller-skates. Does anyone still remember those?

  • heh, yeah.. I can also remember when those "rollerblades" were the newest tech... belive it or not, they were originally developed for cross-country skiiers to train in the off season.. first time I ever saw any was in a ski catalog.

  • Cool.

  • Do you work at Wal Mart?

  • LOL, I'll Bet You was mad when that person did that, weren't You?. eviltman. Because I Remember The Same Thing Happened To Me, Except I Wasn't Wearing Those Wheel-Heel Shoes. It Was At A Local Farm Wharehouse, And I was With My Dad, Looking At Some New Tillers, When My Butt Bumped Into Some Tin Trash Cans, And Then, CLING!!, CLING!!, CLING!!, CRASH!!, They Fell On The Floor.

  • i fuckin hate when people take the cans like that from bottom that is fuckin annoyoing! imagine what the stock boy must go through.

  • people need to lkearn to take the "top" can

  • I remember this one it used to be one of my favorites when i was a little kid

  • I remember seeing this one like it was yesterday...oh my how time flys when your 25 years old instead of 5 years old.

  • Ha-ha, the stocker didn't want anyone to take any cans of Campbell's Soup! I remember this well, his constant stocking and re-stocking and him saying, "No! Don't touch these!" and then all of the aisles collapsing. I guess those customers, much to his dismay, wanted something "Mmm, mmm, good!"

  • i always thought this was funny :D

  • It's obvious that the animator is refering to the Campbell's Soup can. Even I recognized that design as a kid.

  • stupid customers! >:(

  • It cracked up the supermarket, too.

  • 1-2-3-4-5 stars for this little glimpse into my childhood; they'd never show a cartoon with this much destruction now. ("You encouraged my kids to pull down displays at the store", et cetera...) The ironic ending still cracks me up, though!

  • This one made me laugh when I saw it in the 1980s, though I don't remember seeing it again in the 1990s.

  • I have a 1992 episode where this appears. A lot of this stuff was used for ages...
