I remember when we started reading the book I thought it was boring flowery words, with no meaning, but as we read on I found it really fascinating, especially the humor here and there...
Then sadly came that tragedy...
When I saw the Movie End with Mel Gibson, I nearly cried... Poor Hamlet ;(
And at the beginning of the book we called him emo and all... (and called the suicide against god thing a pathetic excuse)
Yeah, I saw the movie first...THEN read the play. I guess that could play into a reaction.
but yes, I felt bad for all of them, especially Hamlet and Ophelia, poor Ophelia was pretty much just being used by her dad. I was sad that Hamlet wasn't there for her when she went insane. :[
And that's what makes it a true tragedy, the fact that you can sympathize with pretty much everyone. What's awesome about Shakespeare's tragedies is that there is always one mistake that a character makes and from then on, there is so much blood shed, like one significant event can cause the downfall of so many.
Agreed. I wish there was more epic works of literature nowadays. As much as I hate and love sad endings, this, apart from Titanic (I know I'm lame for this) is really a gem that brings true tears of sorrow into my heart.
Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and many others. Best things ever.
you know the inuyasha movie could be based off hamlet if think about it

Ophelia was tug'o'wared over by Hamlet, Polonius, and Laertes... Poor girl, seriously.
And Laertes was away in France so he didn't even know his father died and his sister went insane...
I feel most sorry for Hamlet. He lost EVERYONE he loved, and then even died himself.
Stupid Claudius and stupid ghost....
