@zacktman I bet you know by now but a open can means no top on the diode, you can see the internals, closed can, well you can guess. 5.6mm LD can fit into most modules, and 9.0mm LD are not used with D.I.Y. stuff (at least I don't use them) and C mounts are very powerful Inf-red lasers, kinda like diodes, just not!
Any wavelength drop from all that cooling? Nice laser by the way! Just ordered myself a few of those peltiers. Does the module get cold or does it stay just around room temperature? Condensation is probably going to be my worst enemy.
At this power, the module stays around room temp. I have a blu-ray version at 186mA's (803T) that gets cooler. The peltier is being fed around 546mA's.
No, but you are using a constant current driver and its not under that much stress with only 1-2
watts to keep in check. I have a few interesting
ideas for these things. One of them is to stack one peltier on top of the other and see if I can get the module to cool down enough to make the laser a little brighter and maybe run it at higher currents...As if these things weren't under enough stress as it is.
I am interested to see what kind of power I can get out of the 6x diodes too!
hey, what is the differance between the open can, closed can 5.6mm LD, and 9.0mm LD, and "c" mounts?? which is better

Very nice. Good work dude. Everythings in a tiny box.

How many mw is that. Cool!

I measured it at a peak of 287.9mW with a Meredith glass lens. I changed the lens to an AixiZ acrylic and got a measurement of 247.9mW...

P.S. Just to see what it would do, I turned the 'Ice Box' laser up to 586mA and got a reading of over 365mW!

Wow, thats a lot of current! I thought you weren't supposed to run it past 500ma's?

Not sure... Gazoo had mentioned this as a recommendation. But I figured I would bump it up a bit. Do you have any information on this 500mA limit?
