Well, apperently you've lost your ability to do it. The effect is still the same whether you make look less harmfull or not. ECT NEVER has cured anyone. You do get a temporary improvement but unless you follow up with medications (or drugs more accurately) or therapy you're right back where you started - at best! ECT helps 80+% of patients. There is NO drug or combination of drugs that helps that many. ECT helps the patients that drugs do not. ECT also helps very rapidly (compared to any drug).

Had ECT and I feel fantastic now. And yes, muscle relaxants do make it less harmful. Patients have actually broken limbs during the procedure without them because the seizures are so bad.

ECT really has come a looooong way though. And I am proof. The real ECT today is nothing like what you're seeing.

It saved my life. I can't imagine going back to feeling as bad as I did, and it was for 26 years. And now that I know what it feels like to be happy...why the hell didn't I do it sooner.

Hmmm im not sure of what the difference of the modern treatment is, but I just learnt of some of the original method, and it is not just the methods which alarm but. But the ideology behind it, attempting to wipe the human mind, re-programming it as wished. But then again, I'm glad it has helped people.
