I take the Acela from NYC to Boston, several times a year. Nice and clean, with big comfy seats. Go to the Restaurant Car, get a nice Gin&Tonic, open the laptop... And usually wind up talking with someone for the rest of the trip.
I just wish it was a little more reliable. The good thing is, if there is a major delay, drinks and bagged snacks are FREE! Kinda' takes the sting out of being stuck in the middle of a swamp, in Connecticut.
Very Nice, ive also taken the acela as well several times, however the only time ive gotten free food was when a regionla train broke down and had proceed with outpower in the cars
I don't know if it's official policy, but if you're stuck for more than an hour, it's free drinks and snacks for the rest of the trip. I've got free hot dogs, as well.
If it's not policy, it should be. I'm sure they get a lot less angry complaints that way.
It's funny, but I don't think I've ever come back from Boston without, at least, an hour delay. Usually because of a train ahead of us, or signals breaking down. Low operating budgets cause this. (Damn the airline lobby.)
Always loved the Acela and wanted to take a ride. Going to see a friend in a while and will take a trip using amtrak to go from ATL to Washington. I have never taken the speed of the Acela for granted, and I do know alot about it, I did a research paper on Amtrak and the Acela. It was tough to find info but once i did i was astounded.
I love how every one of you guys act like your from Rhode Island and know everything about the speeds of the acela. You guys need to go research this stuff before you comment, on the amtrak website states "Enjoy superior comfort, upscale amenities, and polished professional service — at speeds up to 150 mph — aboard Acela Express."
you have a great job piloting the Acela but wow I know its scary if u hit a person how do you deal with that situation? I heard they usually let the operators have some time off before returning to work
YOUR ALWAYS THE FIRST TO COMMENT ON ALL THESE VIDS IV NOTICED IT IM NOT KIDDING I LOOK AT THE FIRST COMMET AND WHO IS IT FROM? MURJAX rry for the caps
